Well we've survived one Mattless week, haven't we? One down, two to go - although those two will not be completely Mattless of course as we have CountryFile - and in just a few hours - yaay!

Very hot here but not as bad as the UK. Although looking at the weather forecast I see the temperature will be creeping up over the coming week. Lovely

Must go and look at a few pic spams as I haven't done any for a while and kk and Emma are getting ahead of me again

Thank you for explaining the surprised look, kk. You forestalled my question I saw a programme once about lightning and there was a story about a poor chap who had been struck by it 74 times in his life. Scientists were studying his physiology to see if there was anything in particular about him that made him attract lightning, but there wasn't. Poor chap was just very, very unlucky. There was also a golfer playing on a sunny day in clear blue skies who was struck. Apparently lightning can travel vertically and the bolt that hit him came from a storm a very long way away. Weird.

The t-shirt has arrived and what a lovely t-shirt it was too with the outline of a chicken on the front, it had very short sleeves lots of lovely arms on display.

The piece with a sheep stomach was abit gross, interesting but gross, by the look on matt's face it was very smelly I would have probably thrown up if it that bad, he still was being cheeky asking if anyone wanted a grass smoothie made from the stomach contents.
Nice bit at the school, wonder if matt got to eat any of the cakes .
The most unexpected thud at the end of the show with him using a power tool A good show, it does go quickly.

Morning. Had a curious dream last night where I was an actress in a soap that was just starting out. We were in an old warehouse-type structure and were told to just wander around and get used to each other and get into our parts. I wasn't sure who I was supposed to be but knew I was having affairs with Ian Beale and Matt Matt kept giving me sidelong, knowing glances which confused me even more, and then I was suddenly sitting having a sort of Japanese tea ceremony - as you do in dreams - when an impeccably dressed Matt in his grey suit, and eating a cup cake, came and sat next to me and gave me the most gorgeous up-close, crumb-filled smile I've ever seen. I'm still wobbly from this experience today. But I think the dream must have been provoked by Matt's NOT eating the cakes when I was willing him to do so

Gorgeous pics, Emma, and I love that particular checked shirt. Very subtle. Some lovely close-ups, but no stubble, which is even more natural than smooth-shaved really. This is my favourite:

This is one of Matt's "weird" shirts, isn't it. The check pattern on the cuffs doesn't really go with the denim - a bit like his light elbow pads on the dark jacket.

I don't know if it's because Matt is not on our screens enough at the moment, but all of these pics look great to me.

I haven't watched last night's Countryfile myself yet but the rating was pretty good for summer - it was the highest rated show of the day again with 4.52m viewers. Next highest was the news with 4.3m viewers.

Afternoon

A nice CF episode yesterday but I got to be very patient until Matt was on. I felt like it was a long wait but well worth it. I didn’t expect the last 2 clips – the weather report link and playing with his power tool. It was a pleasant surprise. The rapport between Matt and Julia is always delightful and what a lovely way to end the program. Julia said they will be digging out the archive to show some of the best bits. I really hope they choose the best ones. And I am a bit curious about whether he got the chance to eat Julia’s pudding.

There were a couple of fabulous close-up in which he looks so naturally lovely. Great camerawork when he was chatting to a member of Edible Essex capturing his beautiful eyes. Looking forward to KK's picspam.

What a fascinating dream, Rita…the part being an actress and having affairs with 2 men is just hilarious but not bad at all as you saw probably the most thudworthy man came and sat next to you. Maybe it was the reflection of what you saw on CF yesterday. He would have tempted to eat a piece of Emily’s loving-the-cupcake but it was very likely that he covered this story right after discovering the contents of the sheep stomach which has triggered the gas problems. He might have lost appetite you’d never know. I thought he was about to thrown-up. And who would have thought that the microorganism, methane gas and the saturated fat were found; meat and milk contain the fatty acid.


You gonna like all Matt clips KK and I expect that next week CF viewing figures would be getting higher even we are still in the-summer.

a strange dream rita, it does make to wonder what your mind is doing to come up with these things, A affair with matt and ian beale couldn't get any 2 people more opposite to each other. You did get matt sitting next to you in a nice suit giving you a lovely smile

That's interesting news indeed. Wonder how it would impact on Matt's annual work schedule and how the merge of the two programs would be handled. As far as I know, some of OMNHD episodes airtime on the BBC red button clashed with CF on BBC 1 in 2011 and 2012. I missed either part of CF or OMNHD (young handlers or brace rounds) so I look forward to see whether the move can alter it for the better.

12th of June on The One Show and the guest was Dan Stevens (of Downton Abbey fame - a very good and entertaining guest who made me miss the hour long shows. The interview could have been longer). They did a great little "depressed about Downton at Xmas" bit at the beginning. And then they ran out of time as Dan related an anecdote with his final words being "and this is how I was going to die"

Afternoon

I saw Matt and Julia on TV-Times cover when I was at Tesco yesterday evening. I bought it just because of the lovely Mr Baker is on it. The cover pic isn’t a new shot but the unseen one from previous photoshoot (Matt piggy-bagging Julia pic) cos I recognised their outfits immediately. Looking gorgeous and cute but I am not so keen on his outfits esp the bright yellow tank top isn’t my favourite thing; Rita may point out his flatcap instead. There is a small pic of Julia put her hands on Matt’s shoulders on page 43 seems to be very nice one, wished to see it in a bigger picture.

Matt is still on his holiday though news related to him are up elsewhere on the web.

Countryfile on the 16th of June came from the North Wales Woodfest. This was a great opportunity to focus Matt's time in one place so there was some good stuff in the show. And also for Matt, it was a great opportunity for a day out (or a weekend away…) with the family too as it was filmed during half term. His Countryfile article indicated that they all ended up buying something (Matt bought the bear - I would have gone for the eagle but I think Nicola probably beat him to that )

Also, there were a lot of pictures from the filming tweeted whilst Matt was there. I think some women were particularly fond of the view when he was climbing the tree . (And Matt's article also commented that his time climbing the pole of 25.5 seconds would have won him a prize during the competition - I think he was rather proud of that!)
