Moving on it's the 16th of September on The One Show with guest Mary Berry (who saucily winked at Matt early on in the show ). Nicely done show with plenty of interview time with Mary, discussing her favourite meal in 3 courses and the garden VT with Christine (which made Alex teary!)

I think Paul brought more energy to last night's show than he's brought to the last 2 series of HIGNFY, where he seems to be less and less interested in proceedings.

Not sure about Matt's shirt. Still looking out for the stripes as well as the spots and it's making my eyes water.

I like this jacket and shirt. A good combination. Glad to see Matt is happily wearing his elbow patch jacket after the negative comments he got. And I'm also glad he didn't wear it the very next day. I remember once in a TA course where we all had to sit in a circle on the floor and say something to the group about ourselves, I was very nervous and waited till I was the last to speak, by which time I was very, very nervous. The next week I got in and spoke first, and the group leader said "the other thing people do when they're scared (as well as waiting till last) is to make sure they speak up first and get it over with". So I was pleased Matt wore his jacket in his own good time and when he wanted to wear it

Afternoon all. Fabulous rating for the show last night The One Show had 4.29m viewers (23% share). That's barely changed from last year so the share is probably bigger which is great!

And there are rumours about "Strictly Come Gymnastics" being an idea the BBC are interested in as a Saturday night show. I think it'd be cool. People are mentioning Louis Smith as being likely to involved and I think the Yahoo article is more accurate about his probably being a trainer (or judge) on the show if it happens. I doubt he'd be considered as a presenter on a primetime show as he has no experience. If the show exists the obvious presenting contenders are Matt or Gabby Logan - and as Gabby presents "Splash" which would be a rival show...

Also - if people didn't know they are auditioning in London today for a co-commentator for Matt on One Man and his Dog.

Hi KK, I will wait and see re- SCG rumours. If it is confirmed I'd say Matt would be the perfect choice to present the show, NOT because I am a fan BUT he is in fact truly great in all around. But then again if BBC choses someone else, I won't be too disappointed as presenting and commentating on the artistic gymnastics at Euro, World and Olympics levels is a top job he has done all these 8 odds years and I love to see him there for many years to come.

And talking about gymnastics, there will be a live coverage on Men’s AA Final tomorrow at 7pm. Hope I could watch it on the red button as Max is up for it. If you find a link to online live steam, please post it here, in case the red button on freeview is not available. Matt has the OS at 7 so I feel unsure that he would be able to do the live even from somewhere in the UK. But I do think he will be watching it (as he has to) and probably joining Mitch and Chris after the OS. He won’t be able to go to Belgium over the weekend, would he? Shame! Does BBC cost cut include Matt’s trip to Belgium? Hee…hee…only joking…Of course he does need to be with Beth and Louis.

What about Gus? Retired? He will be missed if he retired. Great man! He has worked together with Matt as long enough as Mitch and Christine have done. He is a tough act. I hope they would find a great match to Matt at least. Wonder are we going to see OMAHD auditioning at some point on telly.

Hi Emma - we don't know if Matt will be doing The One Show when it clashes with the gym. He's listed on The One Show website but that has been wrong before... (And Louis & Beth are definitely in Antwerp)

The live streams will be online and should be accessible from the BBC Sport gymnastics page when the action is happening (it said so here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/gymnastics/24230115)

And I wondered that about Gus. Maybe he has retired, or maybe Andrea really mean co-presenter (but she did say commentator...)

I like Louis but really don't think he'd cut it as a presenter. He'd need an awful lot of training, and even then there's no guarantee. Gabby not a favourite of mine so that only leaves one choice (though I don't suppose they're taking my likes and dislikes into account) By the way, I can't help wondering if this is not Matt's idea anyway. Sounds the sort of thing he'd come up with knowing how much he loves gymnastics and loved Strictly. Think they should change the title though, leave out the Come and just make it SG. There we are it's just an idea in the air and already we're organizing it for them

Nice to see Matt and Alex were joined by their mums on the OS tonight. I couldn’t work out Alex’s mum.

Good news re-Louis and Beth in Antwerp. And thanks for the link, KK. We have to wait and see what Matt is up to. He might need to take a day off from CF filming on Friday. He did film CF on Friday and went off to Brussels/Montpellier for Euro Gym last year. It was just in France though.

On last week CF, Matt said he is delighted that they will be joined by another TV legend so at first I thought it could be Gus joining CF for OMAHD but now I am not too sure. Red button will still air some full coverage, won’t it. I hope it doesn’t clash with CF airtime this year. That’s really annoyed me last 2 years.


I don’t see Louis as a presenter. I could only see him as a judge or a coach. IMHO his talents would have been wasted, otherwise. Re-the initial idea of the show, I have been wondering like you did. Another way of inspiring the nation I guess and I agree SG without C is enough unless they want it to be sparkles in leotards. Imagine Matt in a sparkling leotard.

Evening all

A very good tos, Emma and Sandi were great guest, a lovely relaxed show, both matt's and Alex's mum's were in the studio, Mummy b looked very glam, no wellies, she's wasn't sure about matt's lilac jumper, poor matt being teased about his jumpers as well as he elbow patches
Love the chat after the vt about big daddy and matt suggestion about chopping up the green sofa cover and making himself a mankini, which alex found very funny.

Matt did look lovely, not that keen on the colour of the jumper, but he had left tha razor in the cupboard lovely stubble




This could be good, would be interesting to see how they did it, how easy or difficult they went with the gymnastic, I never watch splash so I don't know to what sort of dives the celebs did towards the end of the show.
They could have matt as the main presenter with louis co-presenter and have some team gb helping with the training.

Auditioning for OMAHD would there be a big queue to do it, quite a specialist skill I would imagine

Not sure about the shirt and cardie colour combo , still looks good tho. great pics kk.

Morning all . Rating for last night's The One Show was 3.46m - usually issues with the rating on Wednesday is that it's up against Coronation Street from 7:30...

Regarding the idea of Strictly Come Gymnastics (never going to be the show title ) it suddenly occurred to me that next year is Sports Relief. A show like this airing in March-May time would be a good replacement for Let's Dance which was more than a little tired last year... So it may be something that is genuinely being considered rather than just a rumour.

I'd also think that would make a Matt & Alex presenting team a possibility - Alex because she presented Let's Dance, Matt for obvious reasons. And they've both worked on Sports Relief before (the coverage of the Mile)

Never underestimate the beeb's ability to do something really stupid

I'm having visions now of Matt backflipping onto the stage each week as a signature in much the way Brucie dances on But I'm going to put all thought and speculation about this potential programme out of my mind until we see something more solid.

I am, as I say, getting used to Matt's cardigans and jumpers and quite like this one - must we have a spotted shirt though!
Probably means they're about to go out of fashion and he'll soon appear in a bib and tucker or some such garb.

I loved the fact that Terry Wogan thanked Matt and Alex in what appeared to be a genuine, heartfelt way for their efforts for CIN so far

I see there's already a thread about SCG on PoV message board. A group of people complaining about a programme that hasn't even reached the drawing board stage yet

I'd say the more people complain on PoV the more likely it is that I'd make the programme . If those morons hate the idea it'd probably rate really well

Lovely One Shows this week - and Matt's been very bouncy and funny. Tonight's offering was a laugh a minute with Felicity and Simon and really raised my spirits - lovely ambience and vibes this evening

So looking forward to Matt doing his gymnastics commentating on BBC2 tomorrow. May not be able to catch it all in real time but it'll be great to hear once again Matt getting very very (and I mean very ) excited about the successes of the British team We'll all be leaping about with him I'm sure if we get some medals!

Interesting to note that 'SCG' has already brought forth comments and as you say Rita, it was only put forward as a vague idea. Can't see it happening myself cos of H&S

Lots of Matt on the telly at the mo, we certainly can't complain. So until tomorrow CCM and beautiful back-flippin' dreams to one and all :sleep: xx
