Great little Strictly themed intro to the gymnastics today with Matt and Louis showing off their salsa and then going all ice-skating with the lifting of Beth. Matt's looking fabulous in a navy shirt that is nicely unbuttoned (showing off the lack of waxing), with rolled up sleeves, and it rode up nicely when he lifted Beth too

I've captured a bunch of pics from that intro section and also uploaded it as a clip to Youtube (as usual the link is in the spreadsheet

After a break for the gym normal service is resumed with the return of The One Show one hour edition on 18th September. We had Usain Bolt and Brian Cox as guests and Matt & Alex running 100m

And it was also the show where they read the complain about Matt's jacket with elbow pads

Matt was wearing a grey jacket, pink shirt, and jeans. And a yellow t-shirt and shorts

This afternoon Gymnastics Apparatus Final opener was really amusing. Loved it! What a triple act! Wonder whose idea was. Matt and Louis lifting Beth reminds me of 3 of them walking on their hands during Beijing Olympics 2008 podium training. I couldn’t find that video clip on youtube now.

By the way has anyone had a chance to watch the first live show – Men’s AA Final on Thursday night? I heard Louis saying ‘it’s like Matt Baker dancing’. I don’t know what he meant as he said it when just found the online link.

Mitch and Christine’s commentary were great as always but as I said before if Matt wasn’t sitting there with them it’s dry a bit IMHO cos they needs someone like Matt who initiates the interesting conversations and raises the questions on behalf of the viewers like me so as they can talk through a bit in depth which is better than they just have to talk through themselves. Thanks goodness Matt was there in the commentary box during the Olympics last year. But then again he got to be chatting with Beth and Louis so where there was Matt I found the liveliest. Matt can bring the best out of them; I mean all of them - Mitch, Christine, Louis and Beth.

As for SCD 2013, 8 and 9 from GRH in week one and two, U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E!

Evening all

Wha a brilliant start to the gymnastic matt and louis doing a be of dancing and having fun with beth

beth they had laugh doing that.

Shame matt wasn't commenting on the gymnastic but we got to see him chatting to beth and louis between finals, so we got lots of lovely close ups
Had to laugh when louis was commenating on the pommel and mitch told louis to sit down when max was doing his routine, remind you of anyone else
standing up and getting excited

I have to say scd was much better with tess and claudia doing to, claudia was funny in the tess pit
The outstanding dance tonight got be to sophie her charleston was great
They mostly all got better, a bit hard on tony getting a Charleston but he did try, Rachel was a bit awkward doing the salsa and abbey wasn't happy about her cha cha cha

It great that you can vote online, threw a few votes tony and daves way hoping they will go up over julien and Vanessa and either one of them goes out

Think follow by SCD results show. I don’t bother who stay who goes, who win lose but I really want to see Tony and Aliona coming back next week. Aliona did really a good tough job two weeks or should I say 4 weeks in a role. She choreographed dance routines reasonably suited for Tony’s age. There were considerably decent dance steps rather than adding pure comedy fillings that I normally see from other pros’ routines which really did put me off. And I see she taught him how to finish his arms and hands. So I prefer either Julian or Vanessa to be voted out but who knows.

And we have 3 hours of live coverage of the last day of world gymnastics championships on BBC 2 at 1.30pm.
I am so happy!

I see Sophie has unleashed her acrobatics skills.

Abby lacked of hip actions in her latin but her ballroom was beautiful.

Susanna is a dark horse. Think she will get supports from judges and the public as well.

Apologies for the lack of proper picspams today. A cold is making it tricky for me to use PC (my eyes hurt

) so I've only done a bit of today's gym instead. This does mean no picspams until Friday (as I'm overseas for work) when hopefully I'll sneak in a couple before running away on holiday for a week

Short visit on here after a slightly frenetic few days

So much to catch up with....thanks to KK and Emma for all your wonderful photographic contributions

What delightful gymnastic programmes we've had the pleasure of viewing. I've seen snippets of them, have recorded most, and will hopefully catch up on the interviews Matt conducted over the next week. Our boys and girls did fantastically well - they are still very young (although mature for their years) and I am sure the best is yet to come.

We've had a glut of Mattage over the last week....but who's complaining

We had a fantastic CF tonight with lots of action Matt on the BMX and with the spade

Well no surprises at lovely Tony leaving SCD. I did feel sorry for Aliona - she wasn't referred to very much but Tony did show his appreciation of her as a marvellous dancing tutor. I hope we see some more of her in the pro dancers items during this series. Like SkyBlue, think it's only right that Julien should be given his marching orders, once he knew he was still in the competition he rushed off the set without acknowledging Tony's departure, not very good manners at all.....

Hope the cold gets better by tomorrow KK

Morning. Thanks to everyone whose posted pics from the gymnastics. Great stuff! I managed to watch parts of it but missed parts for various reasons. Did catch the wonderful little dance on Saturday though

Lots of Matt this weekend what with CountryFile as well.

I was sorry to see Tony go out first on SCD, mostly because I think the judges were particularly, and unnecessarily, harsh on him, and also I think he was slightly hurt by the decision - although the first out often is. I would have preferred Julian to go and Tony to stay for another couple of weeks, but I suppose now we have the dance-off back (which I hate) the judges had no choice really. The ones I most want to see out are Julian and Vanessa - both very, very irritating. My favourites so far are Sophie and Abbey not so much because of their dancing (although Sophie's charleston was amazing) but because they both seem quite natural compared to the others. Of the men I like Dave best and hope he stays around for a few more weeks

I wasn't aware of this guest Paddy, I definitely haven't seen Take Me Out

Sounds just the type of prog I avoid. I'm sure he's a very nice guy (spoke lovingly about his wife) but I couldn't make out everything he said. But then I do have elderly ears

Wonder why they couldn't show a clip, probably because it's under licence to an independent tv company or maybe it's too dodgy for 7 o'clock

Anyway, Matt looked his usual glorious self, like his hair longer and the cardi was bearable

Tiggery and full of vim and vigour!

Been a fantastic few days in the company of MrB, wonderful he's been on our screens every day and we've thudded into oblivion. Matt's had lots of praise re his work on the World Gymnastics programmes and so very well deserved!

Missing KK already - hope your continental colleagues appreciate your wonderful skills

It'll be good to see how things could work better through exchanging ideas!

Evening
The return of cardi and jumper.…it will be getting cold this week as weather has been forecasted so I am expecting Matt would warp up warm himself.

I missed the excitement of Olympics when it’s over now I missed the excitement of the gymnastics. Anyway we have OMAHD and rickshaw to look forward to so not bad at all. Mr Baker said he was delighted but I won’t be happy too early until I see how his role and OMAHD would be handled well.

I haven’t watched SCD results show yet. I slept half way through while catching up the main show. I attempted twice but miserable failed as my eyes didn’t want to do overtime after work and I spend a lot of time watching gymnastics over the weekend. I don’t want Tony and Aliona went out first. We know what judges are like, do we all? It is sad they were voted out first but they didn’t remain in the show in the expense of others at least.

I have a feeling it would be too dodgy for 7pm

Emma unfortunately we do know who the judges like and its not aliona, Julien could have fallen over and completely mucked up the dance off and they would probably have still saved him, as least aliona doesn't have to put up with judges being nasty to herself and tony

Only caught the tail-end of the OS tonight as we had to look after a little person

Matt looked good as ever, the stubble was completely amazing

and his hair is such a lovely length

Will have to watch this edition on Catch-up, JF looked an interesting guest.

I've been watching Pride of Britain too and also blabbing, which I do very easily anyway, but yes some extraordinary people and Malala is probably the most extraordinary of them all. She's no ordinary person that's for sure.

I never saw Adrian Lester in anything other than Hustle but do like him. I liked all the characters in that series except for the girl they replaced the first female character with. Thought they swapped someone original and different for a pretty face and not a particularly good actress. Robert Vaughan I've always liked going back to his portrayal of the coward in The Magnificent Seven and Napoleon Solo in The Man from Uncle. Great series Hustle. Shame it had to come to an end but I suppose they ran out of ideas.
