He missed 2 weeks of CF filming due to supporting the team rickshaw 2013 so we are going to have a clip show next week (thankfully) and a Matt-free CF a week after, I think.

I managed to catch up last week and yesterday SCD this morning and I see Kristina added Aliona’s jive opening sequence to her jive choreography last week. What a surprise! I have to admit I skipped boring VTs plus judges’ comments and scores which I found they contradicted themselves from time to time. So I just watched dancing and the audience reactions right after each dance.

Aliona was not in the Blackpool opening group number last night, was she? I just felt very, very strange to see that Matt and Aliona’s iconic victorious samba song has been used as the opening number when strictly returned to Blackpool after 2 years of absence. Dancing samba in the Blackpool ballroom tower can be seen as natural, fair enough but the song was not necessarily to be ‘Young Heart Run Free’. Even if so, not necessarily to be the opening group number. wasn’t it?

I do wonder how Matt and Aliona would find it if they did watch last night show. I know Blackpool ballroom tower means a special place for Matt as he mentioned in his YFC interview this year. So it made me curious about what were in Matt and Aliona’s minds in that very moment. Together, they did rock the Blackpool. In fact, they received the long standing ovation as did K & A but the loudest cheers was for them as the audience just gone so wild on that night. And the most hilarious moments I have ever witnessed to from Series 5 to date was between Aliona, Len and Bruce on that night and it was Matt let it happened. Craig’s remarks to Len at the backstage came close.

On the other notes, my inclination is that Susanna could win the series cos she was the winner of last year strictly CiN as did K & H, plus she is consistently good (not great/best) dancer and performer and seemed to be both public and the judges are on her side. Also Kevin’s clever chorography could cover up her weaknesses so they have very good chances of winning like Chris and Ola did. It could be final four like they had last year. I do think Ashley would be better off if he is partnered with Aliona cos she has the best teaching techniques to correct old bad habits of the partners who have the natural rhythms. She has gained experiences from coaching Matt, thanks to the judges being far too picky on him. Not really bother who wins who loses, who stays who goes though, as I said before. Natalie can dance like a pro but people would measure them with the standards they have already set up for themselves so a huge pressure is on her and Arterm. And I started interested in Abby and Aljaz dance partnership but I don’t want to back them so I’d prefer to leave them alone.

And I guess SCD production team wanted the audiences to be in the party spirit so as giving the viewers the impression of the Blackpool has been seriously rocked as it was in 2010 so the ratings boost but that did not happen last night IMHO. I saw few couples who got the standing ovations were just half or part of the venue, the rest were still sitting. And now they are using not just props but background dancers as the live props. Was that necessary to make every dance to be look like a stage dancing?

Good morning all

Quick ratings update as I wanted to see how the Children in Need special did last Friday. It got 5.56m viewers (27% audience share). Hopefully a few of those extra viewers will stick around for a bit . Great total for Team Rickshaw too - over £1.3m so that should end up around the £1.5m mark overall.

Have to admit I agree a little with the comment that it shouldn't have been Alex who rode the rickshaw in at the end - I understand why they did that but it does make it seem like the challenge was about Alex and not the team. Think that was handled better last year...

Oh and Countryfile was just under 7m viewers which was good given it started even earlier!

As Matt wasn’t on Countryfile on the 20th of October it’s straight on to The One Show from the 21st. The guest was the actor Michael Sheen. And this was the episode that featured the VT on hugging

Not sure what you mean by that? The judges loved the samba - it's the highest ever score in what is commonly regarded as the toughest latin dance. And it was the highest scoring dance of the night. In that series they marked a bit tougher too so 38 really meant something.

And of course, on tour with the exception of a couple of shows it consistently got full marks.

Excellent rating for last night's One Show - 4.79m (22% audience share). Surprisingly high but I suspect that's because it was up against the warm-up to the football rather than Emmerdale

Evening to all, sorry haven't been around due to tearing about the country

Team Rickshaw was brilliant in Bolton, bellisimo in Bucks and heroic in Herts What a fabulous time I had and what a fantastic group of young people, all cycling their hearts out to raise over £1.4m and counting...... They should all get a medal. Alex was magnificent as well and Matt was an empathetic mentor who supported the Team superbly. But then we know he's a hero.....!!

Well, the Rickshaw Challenge is over for another year....I wonder what the One Show crew have in store for 2014
