It seems Strachan will be a force for unity in Scottish football; everyone thinks his squad is awful, and his choice of backroom staff misguided at best.

I have a horrible feeling that is true.

Sadly.

I like McCall and think he is a good guy but Mcghee? Oh dear what an odd appointment.

Pretty much a failure and remarkably unlikeable too.

Maybe he is there to make WGS look good.

not sure why you would think mcghee is an odd appointment, him and strachan were teammates in a succesful aberdeen team

have no problem with either him or mccall involved in the national setup.

not happy with some of the players in the squad but trust gordon to sort us out

The inclusion of Alan "the Baldy Broadfoot" Hutton is a joke, the guy hasnt played all season and the reason for that is hes total dross. He's been pants for Scotland too whenever he gets a game.

Not even 1 game played and already the wolves are out for strachan he doesn't stand a chance.
I dont see how we can go forward with playaers who have failed us in 3 or 4 campaigns now

Its a friendly prior to games that are effectively meaningless, we should be getting in some of the youngsters that have been sadly absent in the past yet we have the same old same old (literally in some cases). I dont know how some people expect everyone to be falsely enthusiastic about that just because its a new guy picking the old crap.

Standard police procedures for match days are united fans expecting trouble?

As an Aberdeen fan, I think McGhee is a strange appointment. I'm surprised he managed to get a job after he left us to be honest, then he had an equally large disaster at Bristol Rovers. If Scotland hadn't taken him I doubt he would have ever had a decent job in football again - certainly not a manager's job.

The one thing he is quite good at is interviews. He gets slated for saying "you know" every three seconds, but he's actually fairly articulate by Scottish footballing standards. All three of them will probably be much better at dealing with the media than Levein was - which actually makes quite a difference because people were calling for Levein and Burley to get sacked long before they actually were. Levein was being written off by some people after a 0-0 draw in Lithuania in the first game of his first campaign.

There's not usually controls on entering Tannadice St, or the club shop.

Apparently the Rangers fans attending are going to be picketed by Rangers fans supporting the boycott.

I read about that last week thought and hoped it was a non starter Rangers fans have every right to support there team just the same as those fans have every right to boycott but to picket and call your fellow fans scabs is beyond me.

I'd rather be picketed by the Westboro Baptist Church.

The point of scabs are they're taking someone's job, not true in this case.

I don't really get the boycott being targeted at us. 10 clubs voted not to allow Rangers into the SPL not just us. I don't remember any issue when they played other SPL clubs.

If there's a picket line and someone crosses it they are scabs. Motherwell got a full house from them perhaps they feel united and there fans were more vocal? I live in motherwell and the fans groups through here didn't want them so I dnt see any differance.

Conflicting info on SSNews the guy at Celtic Park referring still to this mornings bid. The fit blonde lady at Norwich saying the fifth bid is in.

Don't you just love Deadline Day:

Blonde outside Carrow Road - Norwich make 5th bid for Hooper this time for £9.2m

--trip to milan--

Smug face outside Celtic Park - Norwich made 4th bid for Hooper this morning and that was rejected, Peter Lawwell says Hooper isn't leaving.

Celtic are imo, absolutely mad not to take that money off Norwich and Norwich are equally made for offering it.

They could have a proven PL striker for that amount!
