200 officers, mounted and riot police along with a chopper for a group of non-violent fans going to a game en-masse.
Last time I was at Celtic Park, the latter three appeared to be there as a matter of course. Why not direct the resources already deployed to an area where they're considered needed?

And when it's a proper subset of "scarfers" that have caused trouble in the past?
Eh?

I'm saying that the police treat scarfers different to casuals just as they treat folk heading into grounds in suits for hospitality different to scarfers.

When there's no specific characteristics to identify a particular gathering, the police can only assess what's in front of them. When the group then do themselves no favours by refusing to dissipate on the instruction of the police, it's to be expected that they're given more attention.
FoCUS have cameras all over 111 at Celtic Park. Given the information the Green Brigade put out on their forum which is available for anyone to read they knew it was the non violent Green Brigade who were holding the demonstration today.

In the past the Green Brigade have organised corteos from the Brazen Head to Hampden without consulting the police and Rangers fans had a march on Hampden where Pullar was issuing threats against those is charge of Scottish football. Not a single baton was drawn.

The Green Brigade try to do the same thing to raise the profile of fans banned before convictions and suddenly 200 officers, according to the BBC article, are around them and hitting folk with batons.

It is clear to see the police were unhappy about the McCrindle stuff and decided to dish out a bit of punishment.

Well, I'm guessing the hundreds of police are there for a reason?
Is it to stop the Green Brigade from smashing up Tynecastle?

Proof of the pudding will be in the conviction rate - I'd hazard a guess not many of the arrests will make it to court.
There is a FOI request in for information on the number of arrests per team under the new legislation and the number of convictions per team.

Could make for interesting reading.

Fine, I have no clue if the GB do anything to tynie.

However the Celtic away support in general behave like the worst buckie drinking weegie neds you could ever have a nightmare about.

Are you happy now?

Football of course is all about money, and in the likely event that in the end all this footage of plod with the GB starts scaring the sponsors, I'd imagine Celtic will split up all their season tickets.

I already knew that.

We have idiots in our support, absolutely no doubt about that whatsoever.

Of course the interesting thing about the Celtic away support at Tynecastle is that Celtic don't get to decide who to give tickets to as Hearts deal with the ticket sales.

What, the question of where the "Green Brigade" have been violent?

I'd already answered it. Certain Celtic fans have been violent (it happened at Dens on Boxing Day) and it's not for the police to decide what particular group a gathering of fans belongs to.
'Do the GB have a history of violence'.

That was the question, you failed to answer.

On current form, if he played against San Marino, they would score.

Scotland time again can't wait, how does everyone think we will do these two games.

I suppose the Wales game if we don't win means we will probably finish bottom of the group.

We will probably get a hiding in Serbia.

I think a point over the two games, qualifying is gone so why not ditch a lot of the old guard e.g.the Wigan crew and experiment eg play Mackay-Stevens but it wont happen

Thought we were lucky, Dundee deserved a win, which makes denying them that so much sweeter.

United were shocking yesterday.
How Boulding is starting before Gardyne is beyond me?

Really should beat 10 men.
Not good enough Jackie.

On current form the England defence without Wilson will struggle.

I think Boulding is an out and out striker, while Gardyne is a winger/attacking midfielder.

Have I just heard on SSN that Charles Green wants Rangers to be in the 2nd tier in a 12-12-18 split next season.

Now maths aint my strong point but wouldn't the top 24 teams this season make up the first two divisions and as Rangers are effectively 31st what gives them the brass-neck to oust one of the top 24 to make room for them.
