51% of fans in the SFA survey wanted a 16 team league
63% of fans in the SFA survey wanted three leagues. The survey was done before 12-12-18 was on the table. |

Losing £1 mil a month and laughing. Life must be good. SPL2 lol, good luck with that.
I am content with Craig Whyte doing what he does best and seeing the zombies as usual lap up whatever some clown tells them. Murray, Whyte, Green. You'll never learn. The pope could turn up at Ibroke and tell the gullible that Rangers were going to tie up with NY Yankees, NY Giants, LA Lakers with Nike paying £20 mil year to make shirts and the zombies would somehow believe it. anything else? deflection is so funny |

We are still averaging more than The Rangers even when those you don't turn up, but have paid for a ticket, are included. If people ain't in their seats how can they be included in the "attendance" Official crowd figures can be had via the Police Scotland website, have a peep.

yes deflection. winning titles, succeeding in Europe while a new club in div 3 tries to hang onto the coattails of decisions which they have no say in but somehow claim 'victory;. Yes deflection is very funny.

The thing I don't get is why are people moaning about the Buddies and the Staggies when 80% of football fans didn't want the ridiculous idea
![]() Milne was saying how Gilmour was looking after his own interests. Why don't we have a bigger league like the majority of fans want? Yeah that's right, because your club will have to split money further! Who's looking after their own interests now? The debate doesn't end with what fans want. As unpopular as it is, things like finances matter and you can't just ignore that to try and appease supporters. Fans aren't accountants and football isn't a democracy. |

Stewart Gilmour threatening legal action against any club official who suggests he voted against 12-12-18 to favour Rangers.

The Ross County chairman was on Talksport today and made clear where his big reservations lay, that 8/8/8 split and that idiotic second 8 where you drop all your points after 22 matches and hey presto start a new 14 match league competition with half the clubs that have come from a different league. He also pointed out the difficulties in selling season tickets with such an unknown scenario after 22 matches. He spoke a lot of sense.
It shouldn't necessarily be back to the drswing board. He himself said he agreed with the bulk of the proposals. I'd say ditch this 12/12 to 8/8/8 nonsense, split the leagues like the current SPL does after 33 matches if noone can come up with something better. Then have automatic one up, one down and a second spot decided via play-offs involving the second bottom team in the top division. |

Personally, I think football should try and avoid those situations as much as possible. That was the merit in the 8-8-8 proposal. I don't see any merit, whatsoever, in making the league bigger - especially to the 14 team idea that St Mirren back (or at least say they do - and we know they don't seem to be capable of telling the truth). In a 14 team SPL the bottom 8 would have to play these dead rubber matches for the best part of 4 months. |

The survey shows most fans want a 16 team league and only 3 divisions.
Is there an option for this that is financially viable at the moment? |

Is there 16 teams that would make this league attractive? that's the stumbling block with a larger league.

i think a lot of clubs are AFRAID of change, because they all want to keep THEIR privileged placing in the league ..... but with NO COMPETITIVE structure, the "product" will continue to die off, with pointless games at what should be the most important part of a season!
so, if they can't be bothered being competitive ..... maybe they should LEAVE and let someone else take their place, who DO want to be in a competitive structure! |

Would it be so bad just have to 14 clubs playing each other 3 times? The teams playing one less home game could be compensated (although they'd still have the same amount of home games they do at the moment) and you could make sure each team have 3 old firm home games when Rangers do get back into it.

One of the biggest problems with the bottom six as it stands is that you're essentially playing for nothing if you can't get relegated. Aberdeen are playing Hibs on Monday and I don't know a single person who's going or even cares in the slightest about the result. It's a complete dead rubber - we could win all five of our remaining games 5-0 and it would barely be enough for anyone to notice.
I actually would prefer the two 12s just to split as the current SPL does rather than the 8/8/8 proposals. Then one automatic promotion / relegation place and a play-off among the 2nd bottom in tier 1 and 2nd to 4th in tier 2. The second bottom play-off place in itself would in most years add more competitiveness to the bottom 6 after the split. The 8/8/8 potentially adds midseason non competitiveness or at least one team not being bothered. Might as well rest up your players for the post split once you are sure that you are not going to finish in the top 8, since your points are wiped anyway. |
