It's hardly that complicated, is it? It's basically just playoffs, but instead of playing home and away knockout ties you use a league system. There's actually a good case for saying that using a league system for playoffs is a much fairer way of doing it than using knockout ties - we've seen that frequently in England where a team was miles ahead of their opponents in the league, but still lost due to the random luck and circumstance that can influence a one off tie.”
I personally agree that the 8/8/8 is not partucularly complex at all, but many go on as if it is, which is why I said "arguably complex".
I have stated before that it's not any supposed complexity that I dislike, it's just that I simply dislike it, and I and others have pointed to the many anomalies that are liable to arise.
With myself that is after quite a lot of consideration after initially being quite intrigued by the idea. Far from dismissing it out of hand, I have considered the pros and cons ( including your kind of extended fairer play-off point ) before my considered verdict that it is, to use the the technical term, "pish".
I understand what you are saying, but all things considered I would be for non mixing of divisions during the season and the more regular style play-off to determine one of the possible promotion places.
