I would say no. Britney is in a league of her own. People more iconic than Britney would be Madonna, MJ, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Mariah Carey and Whitney.

IMO Rihanna and Pink are better but Britney is FAR more iconic than both combined.

Not even close. Neither Pink nor Rihanna are iconic, let alone more so.

Britney Spears, for better or worse, is one of the most iconic pop artists. She represents her era in pop and is arguably the face of contemporary celebrity culture thanks to her well publicised rise and fall.

Nope.

Rihanna is a little iconic and she's getting more and more popular, but she hasn't reached Britney yet.

Pink is not iconic and never will be.

Yeah have to agree as big as Rihanna is and as successful and credible as Pink is and including the fact Britney cant even perform anymore, I dont think anyone will be as iconic as her from this generation - "Baby One More Time" propelled her straight into eternal pop icon status, not even Lady Gaga achieved that with any of her songs.

Pink is odd she sells well and her tours aways do well but she is never regarded as iconic and people don't see her as such much like say Kelly Clarkson. Rihanna will eventually become icon and i feel she is there if not quite there yet.

Yeah Rihanna may have the huge success with album after album but thats just it she HAS to keep releasing albums every year cause she can easily be forgotten and people moving on if she took a 2-3 year break. There is nothing Iconic about her she is just some mainstream casual artist.

I love Pink and even she is more iconic then Rihanna. But more Iconic then Britney... Nah.

Britney Spears is iconic imo because she is the face of pop culture these are some of the things why i think she is iconic:

BOMT Debut - The Highest selling album by a teenage artist... STILL the record has not been broken

BOMT Video - Iconic and a classic still to this day

Her performances - VMA's, AMA's You name it when she performs she puts on a show and something people will always talk about and yes even that 07 VMA Performance.

Albums - Huge succes with all her album especially in the U.S 6 No.1 albums BOMT, OIDIA, In the Zone, Circus & Femme Fatale ALL debut at No.1 in there 1st week.

Britney as a Person - The media are obsessed with her, love her or hate people always talk about her or are interested in what she is up to.

I also think her breakdown made people realise 'you know what she is human and she does hurt like the rest of us' etc.

I may have not met her yet 'Hopefuly one day ' I can tell she is the most down to earth Humble pop star out there she is just so normal and i think its that which makes her weak to the media the fact we see her rise the Fall so hard only to rise again.

so yeah Imo Britney is way more iconic

It's Britney B*tch!

Really don't understand the constant need to try and Pitt these artists against each other. It would be hard to say Britney is iconic at this stage in her career. There have been far too many blips and bad management to say she is truly an Icon.

Credit where it's due, you're certainly giving the Alexandra Burke Brigade a run for their money when it comes to delusion of grandeur.

wtf, why do fans always include her breakdown as if its some accolade "it made her seem real" - mental health is a really serious issue not a barbie accessory

There's no artist in the last 20 years (apart from the SG's, arguably) that is as iconic as Britney. Her cultural impact was phenomenal. You couldn't move without seeing her on telly, hearing her on radio, reading about her in the press.
Her school girl uniform in BOMT is such a 90's iconic moment, then there's the performance with the snake, her Madonna kiss, the Rolling Stone cover.... just so many images that come to your mind when you mention her name.
P!nk is more of an artist, she's not really about the iconic moments, but more about the music and artistry.

Her breakdown is NOT AN ICONIC MOMENT!!

And then there's Rihanna, who is just an idiot.

Britney fans keep listing her breakdown as a moment which made her a legend but I can tell you right now Rihanna will have an even bigger breakdown in 2013. All the signs are there and she has already been seen snorting coke and the like. The Chris Brown reunion is a just a trigger for disaster.

Rihanna will be the car crash of 2013. It will either make her a bigger star than she already is or it will ruin her career beyond recovery Lohan style.

However Britney is easily more iconic than P!nk and Rihanna. Like a poster said above, only the Spice Girls come close to the status Britney had. No one else in recent times made the same impact on musical culture.

No Britney is from the last generation that actually watched MTV and had to go to the high street to by her cds lol.

Seems like she was the final pop icon to come out of an era before the millenium.

Shes just a legend and even if she wants to be will never be forgotten.

P!nk is amazing but she just aint Britney.

It's funny as if the order was talent, it would be the complete opposite.

Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake are iconic too. Not as singificant to pop culture as Britney, but certainly more memorable than Rihanna and Pink.

In the darkest part of my mind I feel like Rihanna would really struggle in the long run if she had a breakdown (I pray she doesn't but as you've said...), because she doesn't seem to be surrounded by good people. Even her father thinks Chris Brown is god for her.

Yet she was paid $15m for her services to X Factor (In comparison, Gary Barlow is paid 2m)

Once an Icon, forever an Icon, unless there is something truly shameful that ruins you. If anything, the blips have sustained her popularity, she's gone from Teenage girl next door, to sexed up pop star, and come right back to girl next door as people root for her post-break down.

P!nk arguably should be more iconic than Britney, she's better at probably everything except Dancing (Although nowadays Britney has kinda lost that too) but she doesn't have the X Factor Britney has.

Rihanna is too much of a product to be an icon to be honest.

It will take a lot for anyone to dislodge Britney as the Icon of this generation, from those we have on the scene at the moment, I don't think any have it in them.

In the last 15 years or so Britney Spears has single handedly led the way in the music industry as not only a pop phenomenon but a popular culture icon. Her status is now engraved..... love her or hate her you can't deny her!!
