Maybe that's why they return? Bethany is up the Duff just like her mum so Sarah flees Italy with her new kid and preggo Beth who's sick of babysitting her little sibling. Sarah wants Beth to give birth in the Uk so she can return to Italy pretending the baby is hers. Maybe she leaves Beth behind and Gail has a new "teenage tearaway" to deal with?

True but reports said Katherine Kelly was leaving Corrie in December 2010 and it was denied then confrimed in April 2011 - before her exit in January 2012.

But it says on Wiki (I know not a reliable source) that Bethany was born in June 2000. That means that Sarah was only pregnant for 4 months?

I remember now, that makes more sense. The person I quoted said that she 'fell' pregnant after her 13th birthday in Feb 00' which is incorrect and she did indeed fall pregnant at 12 but didn't find out until months later.

I don't know about fuel the competition; I think it'll confuse everyone involved.
Terrible news. In fact there was a cry of "FFS" when we saw this news. Couldn't stand the actress playing her. Would have been happier about this if they were recasting the role. Wonder if they will do what Hollyoaks did with Holly Cunningham and recast Bethany with someone who looks the same age as Sarah lol.
Hope they do more with her than just have her continue the never ending arguments with David she spent the last few years before she left having.

I love how they claim bringing her back with Bethany is a "masterstroke" like they just had an incredible idea no one ever thought of before lol
She wasn't even mentioned in the run up to Nick's wedding. There wasn't even the usual flimsy excuse about why an ex character couldn't make it. That would have been an ideal time to path the way for her return.
