They used to be my favourites....but now they taste horrid..

I've not seen an advert for Terry's all gold for years!

I saw those in the shops just before Xmas and I couldn't for the life of me tell if they've made a comeback or if they never went away?

My mother used to get those a lot, back in the '80s. I used to love pinching the one shaped like a bag of gold.

was that one the barrell ? I used to have that one for Easter but they have changed them since..I do still like them..and they all gone now

It was basically like eating a sugar cube the last time I ate one.What the hell happened to that lovely smooth bitter taste?

I stopped buying them when they moved to Poland.

Nope, not the barrel. It was a sort of triangular shape, with a bottle neck at the top, that was supposed to be a bag of gold. I can't remember what it was called, but I think it was filled with liquid. "Liquid gold" springs to mind for some reason.

It was a little sack. Was it not a liqueur type filling, very liquid? You could bite off the top of the sack and drink the filling.The barrel was runny caramel.

They aren't the same. For one thing All Gold should be dark, there shouldn't even be a milk chocolate option. That's what Milk Tray was there for. And the chocolate is too sweet and soft. The original All Gold chocolate was crisp, thin and dark. Black Magic isn't the same either. They've over-sweetened all these things to the point of blandness.

That's it! It was the idea of drinking out of a chocolate that made it so appealing. I'm thinking the liquid was lime flavoured?

Edit: A bit of googling, and it was filled with Chartreuse. "Chartreuse Bullion" it was called.

I was going to say was it Chartreuse They ruined it when they changed to truffle fillings.

My gran always preferred dark chocolates so I got the taste from her. She had Black Magic more often though and saved me the orange creams as I loved them and she didn't like them. Milk chocolate is just too sweet for soft centres for my taste.

I also remember my mum getting All Gold easter eggs from my dad and stealing the chocolate as it was nicer than my kids ones. The egg was always really crisp chocolate that properly snapped when you broke it.

I couldn't agree more, I used to love them years ago, but now I find them awful.

You have put your finger on it. The belgification of traditional British chocolates has gone too far. Down with praline and ganache! Bring back cremes, nuts, marzipan and montelimar!

I think Terry's is made in Poland now.

I used to adore these choccies, but now i can't stand them. Same with Milk Tray. They all seem to taste the same, and too many truffles.

According to a BBC article, the Terry's range was expected to be made in Sweden, Poland, Belgium and Slovakia. The Chocolate Orange is known to be made in Poland.

Do they still make the face you love light up?
