My mum is making steak pie for the family. I'm vegetarian so I'll probably have a quorn pie.

I don't usually cook on NY's Day (too hung over so we get a takeaway)

I've got a chicken pie for tomorrow though, from M&S and not homemade. I'll make some mash and do some veggies though!

A Goodfella's Loaded Cheese Pizza. Then I can defrost my fridge. Tonight I had pork sausages (Freddie Mercury and Noel Edmonds would be pleased!), potatoes and broccoli. Nice to remember our end of year and start of year meals!

Turkey breast roast thing that I bought for Christmas Day, but then decided Christmas wasn't Christmas without a 'real' turkey

We've got some Turkey Breast Fillets from Sainsburrys, We'll have it with Mash/Yorkshire Puds and Gravy, My parents are having a bit of red onion stuffing but that doesn't appeal to me, They can have that and washed down with some Lambrini wine, with a Strawberry Gateau for desert. =)

Steak pie. The smells from the kitchen are driving us all mad. We can't wait for it to be ready.

Homemade lentil & veg soup, followed by homemade steak pie and roast potatoes with veg. If we've any room, there's a Xmas pudding left over from last week, served with brandy cream.

I restart my diet tomorrow

I had a hunk of beef of which I was going to roast, then had a better idea.

I cut it into cubes this morning, I plan to make a curry with it instead.

We can't be bothered to cook, did too much of that over Xmas, so we'll be ordering Thai, including pork buns and a curry of some sort.

Vegetable soup for me and I have added chicken to my husbands to satisfy his carnivore tendancy.

Duck a l'orange and a potato gratin. Except hubby doesn't like duck, so he's having steak. Also, some maple syrup roasted vegetables.

Mash pot of shredded salted green beans with potatoes and some navy beans. Served with a boiled long pork sausage that looks and tastes much like a Cumberland Sausage. Instead of gravy a generous amount of butter is mixed in.
The shredded salted green beans are made/cured the same way as sauerkraut. They are very salty and they have to be soaked in fresh water at least three times to make them edible.
It's the traditional New Years Day dinner in the North-East of The Netherlands.
I love those centuries old traditions, especially when they are tasty.
Did anyone else go for traditional local food?
