Okay so lets share some Buffy love....the Summer Rewatch thread has disappeared into the abyss....so lets have a general discussion thread for Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Favourite seasons, story arcs etc.

What engineered this is that recently i have rewatched some wintery/"special" feel episodes (mainly Amends (for Xmas spirit), Hush, The Body, Once More With Feeling and Conversations With Dead people as the 4 "special" episodes) and an article today which discussed Joss Whedons biggest regret

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...n_2371836.html

Personally i know that the market for Buffy is still there, and millions of fans will tune in regardless....but i would adore it if Buffy The ANimated Series happened to stem out of the Buffyverse definitely plus it would open up new areas in contemporary culture What do you guys think also?

I'd love another spin-off show, but I'm not sure an animated series would work out too well. A continuation, with minimal appearances from (non-vampire) characters from previous series, would be great to see.

The Angle & Faith season 9 comic is proving to be a lot better than the Angel season 8 was, and the Buffy one is going along nicely. The Spike mini-series is interesting, but feels a little redundant in the overall Buffy-verse scheme of things, unlike the Willow series, which seems like it's end point will have consquences for the whole of season 9.

Wasn't there supposed to be a Giles spin off planned going back to his "ripper" days?

Yeh, that plan kept popping up every so often. Seems rather dead now. They left it too long for that one.

I think that an Animated Series would have been fantastic set in the season 1 - 3 High School years...not really relying on the "arc" but something alongside...i reckon it would work now if Joss did it for Adult Swim stateside perhaps and perhaps shown on BBC Three over here in the UK ....maybe its just a dream.

And yes RIpper would have been brilliant perhaps with the lack of giles in Season 6 and 7....maybe even post-Buffy...but alas that didnt work either...would have adored it though!

i just watched buffy from start to finish recently..

Watching buffy again it was alot of fun as it always is,you notice things you didn't see before..i found giles to be much funnier than i remember & buffy to be more controlling & annoying than i remember..great great show that never gets boring or old..

i then watched angel again..so much better than i remember it,hadn't seen it for about 3 years..thats for another thread though

I love rewatching Buffy endlessly...its like you watch for the very first time and it takes you there...its brilliant!

And Angel is part of the Buffyverse so can be discussed here...personally for me i felt Angel got better as it went on...there kinda was more fillery moments early on in the show... something Buffy IMO never had...but season 4 garnered an interesting arc for Angel and season 5 was where it elevated a lot more and gained its own identity...but alas it got cancelled the same season which is a shame as i reckon a season 6 and 7 may have come out of it.

I don't think an animated series would do it for me. Tbh I think the buddy characters are done now. I'd love to see a new slayer though, nothing to do with buffy, or maybe smg could be her watcher of sorts, they were rounding up all the newly empowered slayers weren't they? So maybe she was missed, and has had to deal with these powers on her own for years.....

I loved hush. Probably my favourite episode, but I also loved early slayerdome, and the most gut wrenching moment had to be her killing angel as she realised his soul was back. Gets me every time. I loved bad spike, and good spike at first, but he annoyed me in angel, a big nothing character there.

Still in the middle watching Buffy for the first time here.
I am on season 4 now and was introduced to Riley Finn on the last one I saw.
I have still yet to see angel but have most of it now so will give them a go soon.
Buffy is my best show of all now next new one being Once upon a time.

I kind of feel all of these should be merged together/flow naturally and be a part of Season 9 instead of being all seperate to be honest.

Um, what to discuss - Willow and Tara were my favourite couple on the show?

Controversial opinion - I hated Anya after season 3. Her scene in 'The Body' almost ruined a perfect episode for me She became bearable in season 7 once she stopped being a retard, but the damage had been done by then.

Joss and his humour really is inspiring i loved it across Buffy and Angel brilliant...so twisted and real....i think that added to the impact of both shows definitely

And those are some awesome moments

Man thats harsh

I loved Anya...i think i could relate to her unknowing ness attitude and the fact she never realy fit into a slot until she helped towards the end of her time on the show...the whole being a demon and then being a human being/mortal and adapting across three seasons only to have love and the people she trusts "betray" her and ultimately set her back...was pretty intense...plus i loved her gags....interestingly i found her scene in The Body the most heartbreaking (post Buffy in the Summers house obviously) in that she could not connect everything with death and she couldnt grasp what has ACTUALLY happened...loved it.

Ah sweet.

What i love when watching Buffy is the different "mood" and direction each season took...every season had a diferent feel behind it.

Like season 1 feels and looks like a beginning season and then the final season i think looks more dramatic and cinematic in its approach somehow....its hard to describe but i think everyone has noticed it? But i do love that about the show too...every season was so different.

I liked Anya but she should have died early in Season 7. Her screentime was minimal once she lost her powers for the 2nd time in ''Selfless''.

They are all part of 'season 9'. Willow went from Buffy and appeared in Angel & Faith. That lead to her spin off miniseries. Spike was in Buffy, and his mini series spun off from his adventures there.

Whilst i did dislike the fact Anya was underused across the rest of season 7...i do feel she played a good part and the fact that actually she did unite with the Scoobies for the final fight had shown how far she came across the seasons...and unfortunatel her demise was so quick :/

I don't think it's a rewatch because I've never really watched Buffy in its entirety but I started watching the pilot on Syfy and I only just recently watched season 3 finale and it was really good.

But for some reason, Syfy appear to have messed up and they've gone straight from the season 3 finale to season 5, so it looks like I'm going to have to skip a season.
