Great and for a change, restrained, performance from Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, getting the 13th. Amendment passed by any means necessary.
Rather more scenery chewing from Sally Field than strictly necessary but a decent stab at making US political in-fighting entertaining. Whether anyone outside the US will find the subject matter as fascinating as Steven Spielberg obviously does is debatable but at least it's better than War Horse. |
