Sharon Osbourne has apologised for branding X Factor winner Steve Brookstein "fake" and "full of crap" at the show's final.
.......

She told The Sun, "I realised it was unfair as millions voted for him. Simon was furious afterwards. But I’d love to do another series if he'll have me and the money's right."
.........

It seems to me that Sharon is apologising because she realises that she has alienated some voters and complainants and she wants to appear for the second series for more money.

I wouldn't be surprised if she and Simon have had talks and he suggested that she issue a public apology. This apology strikes me as damage limitation as a first step to her being considered for the second series. All speculation of course.

It sounds to me like the well scripted Christmas edition of the X Factor soap opera!

I hope she does decide to come back - the rant was priceless. It'll be fun spotting next year's victim

Putting aside her vicious, nasty, undignified behaviour at the final, what exactly did Sharon add in her capacity as a judge/mentor?

"Stop trying to sing like a black man", "I don't like songs about food", "Too christmassy" "Fabulous, darling", "I'm running out of things to insult you about so I will insult your girlfriend instead".

Please, just get rid. The only people she "entertained" were the people that didn't like Steve. She might me able to set up a good witch hunt, but she is no judge/mentor.

It's all set-up and planned.

The more arguments, the more media coverage. The more coverage they get, the more viewers. Viewers = money which makes the X Factor successful.

This Sharon/Steve rant was planned from the beginning. Sharon and Louis will be back, but Cowell wants people to speculate.

I think some people take their following of certain acts on these shows a bit too seriously!

It's nice to see how some people take pleasure in seeing idiots like Sharon, being a nasty vile bi*ch to someone It gives you an insight into someone's true colours. Wonder how you would take it if someone ranted at you like that would we all be able to laugh then

I for one take no pleasure in seeing people belittled like that, to that extent.

I think maybe some people might still have some sour grapes stuck in their mouth, concerning some acts on these shows

The rant was not planned from the beginning, you are speculating on that, as many people do. I heard Steve asked yet again about it, this time on Liverpool radio today and he said when asked, that it was out of the blue, he knew Sharon didn't like him, as she had come out with even worse at rehearsals, but hadn't expected that outburst/attack.

You could practically see the venom dripping off her tongue. Planned my ar*e She doesn't have the brains to preplan it anyway

Not exactly an unreserved apology though is it?

"I realised it was unfair as millions voted for him"
What does that mean, she was unfair because millions like him, or it was unfair because millions gave him a sympathy vote

I will not watch series 2 if the vile Ma Osbourne is on the judging panel. I completely agree with The Mist - what qualifies her as a judge when she comes out with inane comments such as:

"Stop trying to sing like a black man", "I don't like songs about food", "Too christmassy" "Fabulous, darling", "I'm running out of things to insult you about so I will insult your girlfriend instead".

It seems she was apologising to the people who voted for him (I'm sorry if I offended you but you obviously have crap taste) rather than to Steve himself, which is not really a great apology is it?

I think she realises that the outburst might have screwed it for the future of Mrs O and the Osbornes and that the family are on their way out of the limelight/showbusiness and in desparation she had better do something about it. She used to be on the top step of the ladder, she is gradually falling to the bottom and has to do something.

What does everyone think?

Definatly because she wants to appear as a judge in the next series. If she meant the apology she'd have said it before now.
It looks like she's been told, apologise, or no show for you next year.
She should never had said those things, she acted like the worst type of BB viewer ranting at a housemate who has a pimple in the wrong place.

i dont think she should have apologised, but its a good way to ensure yourself as a judge for the enxt series.

I tells ya, all this is just creating publicity for the show, they already know they are back for a second series.

The point of this thread was to discuss Sharon's so-called apology....not as a means for you to insult people's taste with a cheap shot. One man's meat is another man's poison!!!

Merry Christmas!

In response to your comments:

1. Normally ' Thank-you. Now, next on the agenda...'

2. *sits back and waits for laughter*

3. I take it you'll be concentrating on real life and not on reality television in future, then?

Thank you. Now, next on the agenda...

Merry Christmas to you and your family (and everyone else, be it Osborne or Cowell or Brookstein)

I think Bev meant that that was what Sharon was thinking, not what she thought herself - that's how I read it anyway.

I agree - she's not that good an actress. She virtually spat at him!

Wow, your hatred really does run deep. Perhaps it would be best for your blood pressure if you didn't watch the next series.
