According to LN new Interview Alfie is set to stay in the Vic possibly with Roxy- I still feel that is the wrong decision on Lorraine's part, I was hoping that a new family or Sharon burying her demons would get it back...

I don't think a new family would work in the Vic but after they become established family members, then maybe it could work.

I'm happy with Alfie staying in the Vic. Sharon back in the Vic is totally unrealistic.

No it isn't. What is unrealistic is her having a problem with it now.
After Den died who opened up the vic first? Chrissie? No she could not handle it, it was Sharon even Dennis was surprised.
After Dennis got murdered who did Sharon move in with just before the funeral? Peggy and Phil at the vic.

So its totally unrealistic for her to have a problem years later when she didn't at the time. Moreover for anyone who watched in the early 90s we will see she had a bigger obsession with that pub then Peggy ever did. Peggy's exit with the voices even ripped off Sharon's 95 one. Even Grant was jealous of the obsession "Tell me you love me more than this pub" "No contest Grant the vic everytime" "Sharon never loved me all she wanted was this pub she was even prepared to marry me for it" It was a condition for her marriage to Grant that got her the pub.

They want Alfie to stay in The Vic at all costs. That's why Sharon suddenly developed a phobia of The Vic. They want us to accept she'll never work or live there again. Well I don't accept it because it's b***cks. She lived and worked there right up until her last exit with no problem at all. She drinks there now with no anxiety about the place. It's not believable and I don't buy it. Peggy is out of the way for good finally so it's time for Sharon to reclaim her home.

I think that depending on how well Kirsty's character is received they should consider making her the owner of the place. Kierston Wareing is more than capable of making herself an iconic landlady. Its already been hinted that Kirsty has brothers. Her family is waiting in the wings.

Alfie has always been wrong for The Vic if you ask me. Also if you notice whenever he is running the place the show always has its bad eras. 2003/2004 and since he returned in 2010! maybe its Shane Richie who is the EE curse.

Thought this was going to be a thread about how everyone that buys a drink in The Vic always seems to have the correct money.

That makes even less sense. Den was murdered in the bar where she drinks and Dennis was murdered outside on the road she walks on every day. The bar itself was host to her public humiliation during Sharongate and Michelle's shooting. Nothing especially traumatic has ever happened upstairs

How do you know this?

If Shane has ever said on record he will leave if they remove his character from the pub then he should be axed anyway for holding them to ransom. Thats really big headed of him.

She was brought up upstairs though think she went through a lot with dennis and is in a bad place. The vic holds too many bad memories

But not bad enough to drink and socialize there? I don't buy it. It's just an excuse so they can keep Alfie there so Shane Richie doesn't quit like he did when they put Chrissie in The Vic during his last stint. Sharon's obsession with The Vic is a huge part of her character sadly missing this time

The Vic has really suffered since the fire in 2010, it lost its central status within the square and for two years it remained half decorated upstairs! It just felt like a complete after thought.

Kat and Alfie haven't worked, Alfie is too busy trying to make everyone like him so we've had the likes of Fatboy and Jean working behind the bar while Kat has spent most of her time sulking.

Kirsty would be interesting especially if she proves a popular character, she's got a rough round the edges style to her which fits the Vic much more than the cute and cuddly act from Alfie. If Shane leaves it won't be that much of a loss, there's nowhere else for the character to go.

Ultimately the Vic needs to leave Mitchell hands, whoever runs it will always have to answer to Phil as long as he owns it.

Pitty for him!!!

Seriously if what people are saying is true they should make an example of him. No actor should be holding a producer to ransom like that.

Shane Richie's popularity always amazes me but its no excuse for them to bend over backwards for him. The Vic has outgrown Alfie. Removing Kat is only removing half the problem.

It's true Shane Richie left because Alfie was removed from The Vic. He said he thought Alfie belonged there or had a right to be there. I can't remember which.

I agree with those who said Alfie hasn't been successful as landlord of The Vic. Both of his eras as landlord were low points. You'd think someone would join the dots and get the idea. But his lack of success this time around isn't just down to him. It's down to the fact The Vic is no longer the centrepiece of the show. That location is now the Branning house. And that needs to be fixed pronto. The Vic IS EastEnders.

Shane Richie quit EE in 2005 because Alfie didn't live in the Vic anymore.

Did EastEnders not try to pursuade you to stay?
"They did, but by that time you're probably aware that we had a new executive producer come in, and I think by then Alfie had done the big Alfie and Kat thing, and the Alfie and Nana story was about to start, and I was concerned that they were going to make a lot of changes, which she did. I thought Alfie deserved to stay in the pub, I always thought Alfie was behind the Queen Vic, and when they decided to take Alfie out of the Queen Vic and then they weren't quite sure what storylines they were going to do with me... I thought 'oh right, the bubble's slightly burst here with Alfie'. That's when we decided to jump before we were pushed. I've said it before, the day I started EastEnders was the day I thought - you start looking for your next job.

I think we will see Alfie in the Vic till Shane Richie leaves.
