My new laptop is with the Dolby, and Altec Lansing.

However, when plugged headphones in the headphone jack, the overall relay is low in volume as well as bass and treble.

On my old laptop as my jack was damaged, I was using a 7.1 soundblaster usb headphone adapter or which is rich in bass and volume.

When I could get my old jack to work on windows 7, I had RealTek, but noticed on Win 8, this has been replaced, but surprisingly low in quality than anticipated.

Any tips in boosting my sound and would it be possible to download drivers of RealTek?

Thanks.

No point downloading RealTek drivers if there is no RealTek chipset in the laptop.

First thing to check is that the headphones are properly inserted into the socket. Some headphone sockets can require a good push to fully seat the plug. There is also the possibility that the socket is damaged. Or your headphones are, so try a different pair of headphones if you can just to double check.

Also go into the sound settings in Windows and make sure there are no odd settings in there. If you have a number of options then selecting plain stereo speakers/headphones would be a good starting place. And of course check out any controls for volume, treble and bass that there may be.
