Ok.. so even im not sure what I'm talking about .

I have a tv but it only has one scart socket. This is being used as an 'output' for the surround sound speakers.
Therefore I have no spare socket for the DVD scary lead, I want to be able to use the DVD and speakers at the same time.
I have seen an adapter type thing in Wilkinson but it only allows you to switch between scart connections and not use them simultaniously.
Am I on the right track here ?

Try a lead like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SCART-PHONO-...dp/B005ERHMLY/

This is a normal SCART to SCART lead but has the audio connections brought out on phono leads as well. So you just plug DVD to TV using the SACRT plugs with the end with the phono leads attached at the TV end. Then plug the phonos into the surround system.

It has two pairs of phonos one will be the TV sound and the other the DVD sound. So you can plug which ever pair you need into the surround system, or both. Depends if the TV outputs the DVD sound as well as the tuner sound or just the tuner sound even when watching a DVD.

i have ordered this.
i not sure why the speakers do not work with the dvd player anyway, as the leads are plugged into the 'audio output' on the dvd player aswell.
its all annoyingly confusing! and why my tv only has one scart socket i dont know!

SCART sockets are an analogue connection.
As most devices are digital now, digital interconnection (HDMI DVI) is the preferred connection method.
SCART will be here for a short while, as there is still legacy equipment around, but their days are numbered
Some sets now don't have SCART socket as such but allow the use of SCART through an adaptor

Can you clarify what you mean here? Are these surround speakers that came with the TV and complement the main TV speakers or a complete separate system or what?

As well? Even more confusing?

Rather a misleading statement - they still have SCART, but it's moved to the end of a flylead - simply because there's no room on the back of the TV for them any more. By making it pluggable, it means you can leave it out if you don't need it.

Essentially SCART is dead, HDMI has replaced it - despite it's inferiority in some respects.

So how is this misleading

This review http://www.techradar.com/reviews/aud...75333/review/2 observes:
"Elsewhere the TX-L37E5Bhas it covered, with a shared input for component video and composite video (using a proprietary adapter because of the TV's thin profile....... an optical digital audio output for hooking up a home cinema, a mini D-sub 15-pin input for attaching a PC, a scart (again via a very thin adapter cable) and a headphones jack.
