I much prefer Kat without Alfie.
Just noticed a surprising opinion I've found myself possessing lately when watching Eastenders, since Derek's death it has been so interesting to see Kat engaging with a different bunch of characters, loved her scenes with Alice last night and she has a really odd dynamic with Joey, not sexual at all but not motherly either, very strange but very compelling. It also helps that she isn't wearing as many slutty outfits as usual, it helps to take her more seriously.
Jessie Wallace is a competent actress when she doesn't have Shane Richie to bounce off and there's potential for a whole new scope of storylines and character development if they keep her away from the repetitive circle of affairs and reunions with Alfie. Shocked me to have felt this but I'm really enjoying the character now they've moved her away from the Vic and shook things up a bit. Anyone else feeling the same? |

Yes I agree, Kat was always good when she had more to do than self sabotage her own love life, watching back through the Slaters original stint on youtube and Kat is amazing, the way she takes on Trevor and is there for Little Mo, how she loves Zoe.
The way she is being now is good as well, it's brought all these different sides of Kat that have been buried for to long, because, all she has been in recent years, is Alfies wife, nothing else to her, being alone again is just what the character needs. |

They needed to be seperated, her character was dearly missing any sort of substantial interaction with other people. Her scenes with Alice last night were quite refreshing.

I totally agree - keep them apart now fgs - there must be still some originality left within the capabilities of the writing team etc.

Me too , I was surprised how natural those Kat/Alice scenes were. I also think part of it is probably we are just so glad to have moved on from *that* storyline. In a way, at the time I was one of the few looking forward to the reveal, but it did get beyond ridiculous, and the reveal was a letdown so I think all these factors have contributed to being relieved as much as anything to see Kat in a new situation.
Are we supposed to think (or have I missed) that Mo & Jean have disowned Kat? Wonder where Kat will end up living - Why would Mo & Jean carry on living with Alfie & Roxy, I would like the three of them to end up back together in a place. |

Kat and Alfie's reunion will inevitably happen. This will not be a permanent split. But if the only good thing about the whole affair storyline is that we finally see Kat on her own for a bit, away from Alfie, interacting with other characters etc and some storylines on her own (whilst the writers explore Alfie & Roxy as a couple as well) then I am all for it. |

I think Kat could do with one of the Slater sisters around her. Kacey Ainsworth said she would be open to returning.

I also have to add how beautiful Jessie Wallace has always looked without Kat's heavy makeup. She's looked completely different since the 'reveal'.

It would. Little Mo was always a favourite of mine.
I'd pair her up with Billy again. |

it actually had its tits covered up last night and a pair of trews on.
The only defence of slapper slater i shall give is over last night, when the underwear model wanted to know what she was still doing there, pot kettle black there, but the fact it is, it is still Mo's tenancy sub let or not which gives Kat more right to be there than the 2 bad (supposed) actors that are attempting play alice & mumbling moron. How jessie wallace managed to keep a straight face when that line was thrown at her god alone knows. I wonder how many retakes were done as she laughed long & lound straight in his face. |

True. But Joey probably has no idea who owns the house etc to be fair, all he knows is Derek was paying the rent for Derek and Alice to live there so as far as Joey is concerned, Kat has no reason to be there now Derek has gone. |

It's a shame they had to destroy her a bit before the writing was sorted out for her. Compare Jessie's acting during the shagger plot and now, and it's miles different. She can actually act now. I don't buy that she was happy about that storyline.. And it's lovely to see Jessie looking so well: her make-under really suits her.

I think Kat should live there with Tommy, Jean and Big Mo (after all its Mo's place lol). Let Alfie leave the Square and get someone else to take over the Vic. Kat could make a fresh start and eventually get over the past few years. Joey and Alice can move in with Dot or something, got enough places around there to live lol

Kat should have been quicker to tell him whose house it was and then bin the pair of them out, they can always shack up with their odious relatives who infest half the square, they would be spoilt for choice for a sofa to kip on. Or they could just do everyone a favor and bugger off home to their ma. |

It is fecking bizarre why Alice at least has not returned to her mother and keeps going on about not having anybody now. I mean, seriously she may have fell out with her Mum but if she returned saying Derek had died I doubt her mum would turn her away. It is ridiculous. What I want to know is how on earth Kat, Alice and Joey if he ends up living there as well will manage to scrape any rent together between them if they need to keep paying Mo....lol. Kat hasn't got a job right now. Alice never seems to be at work. Joey....well, he apparently worked at the Car Lot for all of about a day and doesn't seem to do anything else now. |

I have always preferred Kat away from Alfie. I've been hoping they'd split up again ever since she came back. The Kat we have now is the Kat I love.
