Branston Baked Beans
Pack of 4 currently half price in Tesco (£1.27) so I thought I'd give them a try. Now I'm a total convert so I'm going to stock up on them. Parioli Chopped Tomatoes also half price.

I had these when they were first on an offer of a 4 pack for a quid...and I too bought a load! They are really nice, full of flavour and a lovely sauce. I love em

A pound for four tins is the price to pay for these. At the moment they are £1 in Nisa stores. In a few weeks they'll be £1 in Asda or Tesco or wherever. In the mean time the supermarkets will push them up to £2.50 or whatever in order to falsely claim a saving later. If you look around though, they are always available at £1 somewhere, just wait for them to hit that price in your local supermarket and buy enough of them to last you until they next hit £1 there in a few months.
I agree though, they are very good quality. <parp>

They are really nice, a rich thick flavour and far superior to Heinz.

Nowhere near as good as Heinz - flavour somewhat off and always a bit watery.

Keep an eye on the prices in Tesco. Sometimes the individual cans are on offer at 50p each, or 3 for a £1. and the 4-packs aren't. So it can be cheaper to buy the individual cans.

Buy when they are cheap and on offer, ignore when they up their prices, wait a bit till they are on offer again and then stock up. Not so easy when you are shopping working round a job, but when, as I am retired, there are many genuine bargains every week to be had.
Having time to study such items as shower gel, this week it was around £1.90 each but the ones I bought before Christmas were on a 2 for 1 offer, I stocked up then with a half a dozen, So I bide my time and wait for another offer and stock up again. Probably reduced again within 3 weeks. Right Guard Men's Deodorant normal price £2.89 in Sainsburys but I have bought them as cheap as £1,44 or BOGOF. Bargains to be had on toothpastes, soaps and most toiletry products. I am sure we are being taken for a ride by the supermarkets the secret is if you have the time and are canny enough to beat them at their own game. Buy when cheap, ignore when expensive. I have in my spare room a large stock of non-perishable items I buy in bulk when cheap and they are on genuine offers. Other favourites for huge savings I have are all cleaning products, particularly dishwasher tablets. In the course of a year I estimate I save a massive amount by buying that way. In days gone by your money made more kept in a day to day current account but no longer that is the case any more. Try and match bank interest with the offers in supermarkets no comparison at all, the bank interest is crap, the supermarket savings leave them standing as an investment of your day-to-day money. There is certainly a way at beating the supermarkets at their own game, it can be done it takes a bit of organisation and time though. |

I'm a recent convert from Heinz to Branston - they seem to be much richer. Whenever they are on offer I stock up the cupboard.

Never really saw why people go mad about Heinz beans, they are ok, i suppose because they was the first ones.
i like Branston beans as well, may have some for tea on toast this evening, must get bread. first. Do anyone remember the British ones that Safeway sold for a while? I thought they was ok, a shame they did not catch on |

I converted to Branston a couple of years ago and I've never had Heinz since, I sometimes have Asdas own make, but I much prefer Branston, Lovely thick rich sauce, In fact I had some with chicken/waffles for dinner today. =)

Heinz ketchup is the worst, even compared to the value ranges. The best I've found is either m&s or Hellmans

Awful beans, tin full of tasteless watery juice with beans; very reminiscent of the French baked beans I tried on holiday there four decades ago, only fit for the bin.

I tried Branston's before and liked them.
I like the novelty of different beans - had a phase of M&S baked beans last year. Always go back to Heinz in the end though... they are still the definitive baked beans for me. |

The best ones for thickness, taste, and right saltiness are Branston baked beans and Asda Smart Price. Mmm.
