Happy New Year! This is the 33rd edition of DS Fantasy Eurovision and we're back in Wales, this time the capital Cardiff.

The contest will begin at the end of the Champion of Champions next week but I'll open it up for people to sign up from now.

Some hosts like to cram as many countries as possible into a contest but I don't . I've got a list of 56 countries I'll use and that's as far as it will go. If we get over 28 sign ups we'll see what happens Hopefully everyone will get two but if sign ups go through the roof then some people will get one. If that hasn't put you off, PM me to sign up.

Details on the format will be announced next week.

Welcome to Cardiff and the 33rd edition of DSFE.

Tonight you'll receive your two countries for the contest. There will be two semi finals with one of your songs in each of them. The top 12 songs from each semi final will go into the final.

The usual rules apply when you pick your song, Eurovision artists yes - Eurovision national final songs - no. http://dsfe.wikia.com/wiki/DS_Fantasy_Eurovision << No songs from here. No songs more than 5 minutes long etc. etc.

Most of the microstates have been sent home so all the countries should select from their own countries singers but if you find someone you want to send who has a reasonable connection to the country you can choose them as your artist.

You can start submitting songs to me on Sunday 13th January with the deadline being Tuesday 15th January. Please don't submit any songs before Sunday or I will send the Eurovision fairies round to haunt you in your sleep.

Yeah that might sound strange but I'm not here over the weekend so any songs sent in wouldn't be announced till Sunday night anyway and hopefully that will stop people picking with haste

One change to the rules for San Marino. The FM has pleaded for mercy and I suppose they were right, the rules did make it almost impossible. San Marino can pick from Italy but it can't have been inside the Italian Top 40.
