I was fairly young, but remember it quite well. I liked it and have liked most things that Trevor Eve has been in since.

Series 1 is available on ebay and Amazon but Series 2 has never been released, however it seems to be around on various Torrent sites.

It's this kind of show one of the satellite/cable channels should be showing, rather than shows like Keeping up Appearances and OFAH that are never off the telly.

Angels was another good series from that era too, again never repeated

IIRC the story goes thatTrevor Eve did not want to make any more episodes, which is why it finished.

Probably hard to repeat for satellite channels, as it was set in a radio station so would have had music playing, as part of the show.
All music needs clearance from the copyright holder before you can repeat the programme.

Music rights stop a lot of programmes being repeated or put out on DVD etc.

It was repeated on BBC2 after Neighbours in the afternoons in the late 90s/early 2000s. That's how I saw it.

I recorded Series 1 & 2 when the channel Alibi showed it back in 2011.There's an episode where a young Daniel Day Lewis pops up as a DJ.

This is really annoying and the silly thing is playing these songs on these DVDs will remind people of the particular artist and they may even go out and buy some of the artist's work, not putting out the DVDs because of music rights helps no one. I don't expect the rights holders to pay for this free advertising but I don't see why they should be paid for it.

Shoestring has indeed been repeated a few times in recent years but the cable channels heavily edit the episodes.

The DVD release of Series 1 only has one music edit which is pretty good considering all the songs that are in it. The song in question is Lene Lovich ''Lucky Number' which was replaced by Blondie's 'Heart of Glass'. As most of the music featured is in the background the edit was subtle

As far as I know, the Series 1 DVD didn't sell so well hence no sign of Series 2 for the time being. The company welcomed emails from fans and they said they might review the situation if there was enough interest.

I have fond memories of it but I've no idea how it holds up 35 years on.

I remember Toyah Willcox being the guest star in one of the episodes.

Yes, the BBCs budget is a bit limited....Oh, it's not about that, then!?
