I officially hate January. Atm we're stuck with the awful drones of will.i.am and Britney and the even more depressing drones of James Arthur.

Can anyone please enlighten me to some forthcoming single releases coming up in the next few weeks? I think I'm going mad!

This time 4 years ago (2009) things were so different.

We had Beyonce's 'Halo' floating around, the arrival of Gaga with 'Just Dance' and some new arrivals on the scene. I loved 2009 for music.

I am in love with Haim right now...proper 80s throwback <3 and i do like ALunageorge they are pretty slick in terms of upcoming artists too....so so far in 2013 i know i have those two

Yeah i was so pleased that finally who i predicted as the top two on the BBC Sound Of...2013 poll were this pair....definitely magic thus far from the two...and of course we have some returning big guns this year but if they let me down musically i know i love this pair

January in 2009 was extremely quiet as well. Just Dance spent like 7 weeks in the top 2 simply because there was literally nothing else out. And Lily Allen got 4 weeks at #1 for a similar reason, just by default.

2009 in general was quite a boring year for music, because that year a lot of the interesting artists from before disappeared from the mainstream, and we were left in a situation where there was basically just 5 major artists in existance in the charts. And others were just getting a random hit here and there. It seemed so boring after experiencing 2006 and 2007 which was the complete opposite.
