The Wanted think they're like The Beatles
Quote:
It's hilarious how The Wanted think they're massive in America. They've only had one hit and their album flopped in America. Lol I can't believe they actually think they are experiencing Beatlemania in America

I imagine some of this is actually how they feel, but I also think they are being put up to this by their management. They are trying to create a 'bad' image to separate themselves from 1D, but I don't think it's coming off well.
They aren't comparable to 1D at all. They had one top 10 hit on the Hot 100, but their EP had low sales there. They aren't in a position to be acting the way they do. I don't really like either band at all really, but The Wanted will end up ruining it for themselves with the attitude they have adopted. |

It might have something to do with management. But its always Tom saying these ridiculous things not the other members. I just don't understand how they can be so deluded when they aren't doing that great. If they continue with the attitude then this will totally kill their career.

LOL at them speaking as if they're on the same level as One Direction.
I don't like either band but One Direction have had two platinum #1 albums in the US and a massive worldwide tour and pretty good singles success. The Wanted have had one hit.

I don't think any boyband can possibly lord it up over another... or boast about the success when talent is naff all to do with it.

In fairness they said beatlemania not we are as good as The Beatles. The Spice girls(like them/Rate them or not) in my opinion were the last British band to truly experience that level of fame and success WW neither them nor 1D come close more N*sync and Backstreet Boys. But in truth they do need to curb their delusions of grandeur.

But musically those two groups are both as bad as each other. No-one will remember their songs in 5 years time

Is Tom the ugly one? Or i should say the ugliest one?
![]() My how their tune has changed from saying they were better than 1D and they were all about the music whereas 1D were for kiddies they now saying they (and 1D) are on the same level as the beatles ![]() ![]() Doesn't their management give them media training? Isn't this the same band that are always dissing someone? Christina and Britney spring to mind . So not a good look

In a way, I know what he meant, beatlemania and the english invasion has nothing to do with becoming a legend like the Beatles. But it's kind of awkward to say that about your own band... Especially since I'm not sure that there is that level of hysteria for the Wanted, but I'm not in the US, so I could be wrong.
Considering how iconic the beatles became and the way the press and the public seems to love to misunderstand what celebs are saying, it's better to stay away from those comparisons. |

Any band that has rows and rows of screaming girl fans are compared to the Beatles - look on YouTube for news reports on the Osmonds or Duran Duran (and whose popularity only lasted a few years).
It doesn't mean that their music is like the Beatles. When the Beatles were popular that they were screamed at they were still singing She Loves You and Please Please Me - three minute pop ditties. |

The Beatles were never a boy band, that term didn't even exist. They spent years on their craft, writing, singing and playing instruments and doing gigs in small local clubs and bars. They worked from the bottom to get to the top, they didn't get fame from talent contests or have everything handed to them on a plate. The Beatles "1" album was the biggest selling album from 2000-2009 and they were the 2nd best selling artist of the 00's after Eminem 30-40 years after they broke up! Let's see where The Wanted and One Direction will be 2 years from now, never mind 50.

Oh please.. both bands, The Wanted OR 1D can't come close to Backstreet Boys or Nysnc, let alone The Beatles.
And I realize they mean Beatlemania (hordes old screaming girls chasing them), but I don't think The Wanted really experienced that either. And I find it laughable and pathetic that they actually think they cracked America - only Glad You Came was sort of a hit, their album practically flopped. |

I find it laughable that they think they are "tearing up America". I can safely say, since I am currently on the other side of the pond, The Wanted are definitely not big in America..
I recall them performing on one - possible 2? - day time shows and with all the driving I do back and forth from Canada and America, I haven't once heard their song on the radio - while 1D was everywhere. The only reason a majority of people know of them here is because Lindsey Lohan followed them around for those 4 days and it was all over the media. Personally I think they need to send her a card of thanks for that. They were all over the news for about a week. And let's be honest, that;s about as good as it's going to get for them over here. |

Comparing yourself to the Beatles is just setting yourself up for a fall. On the face of it they may think they are experiencing Beatlemania, but I doubt they are capturing half the essence of it. Part of the excitement was the new exciting sound of The Beatles music and the respect they got as songwriters from those outside of the 'teenage girl' demographic.
2 boybands who are basically puppets on a string can't compare to that. |

I think they are total shit, And 1D are slightly better in that manufactured sense.
The fact that these two ""bands"" have even been mentioned in the same sentence with The Beatles is a total insult.... and I'm not a Beatles fan but please??
