Actually it's not what i thought i thought it would not be upbeat at all bt its actually quite good but i'd still prefer to listen to the likes of The Smiths etc

Oh yes The Smiths are cool too, S&G are a little different to them though! Quite folky and serene generally, not for everyone of course! I love them though.

Glad you listened.

EVer since i heard S&g were an influence of Madonnas for her LAP album in particular (Promise To Try brought it out i think...very similar vain and just as haunting and beautiful!) I was like WOAH must check them out...so have done and liked their really haunting feel.....and as i say reignited with my recent 1989 ravings....and yeah ordered their Hits...and oh dont i know it whenever you have a hiden album gem you MUST go for the albums...but i will start with their Hits and work my way around like i did with Bowie previously

ANd i think one should be started man

definitely NOT easy listening/uptempo like they may give off in vibes....beautiul duo....but yes The Frapp are still my fave DUo ....

and HM as for the SMiths i only like How Soon Is Now due to its use as Charmed Theme Tune....everything else i find so damn dour hehe :P

Yeah i love that ambience with their FOlk...does harken to Frapps Seventh Tree in ways....with their late 60s/70s vibes...like the Wicker Man i guess and Hammer Horror culty vibes....very much love it although admittedly the over use of Mrs RObinson kinda put me off the song...not that its bad it just kinda is the only one i think is overplayed....but i love em all

I think it definitely is a tatse thing guys like i love the melodrama and black humor of The Smiths in comparison to the low key folk stylings of S&G but must be noted each have had a profound influence on successive genrations like Goldfrapp if not always recieving the attention they deserve

Watching Queens Of British Pop (again Kate is currently on for me always and forever the best female musician ever without question ) i wonder if Alison will get the recognition she deserves its my sore point with Goldfrapp she is so talented and innovative yet so underrated.

Kate is sandwiched nicely between Madonna and Grace Jones for me ) but Kate is by far such a defining music legend and my favourite British artist of all time! just ahead of Bowie for me

and i think so...ALison has a LOT of influences which i find so slick...and she has influenced so many others in Dance to make their mark....in 20 years time i reckon she will be up there...lets see where album 6 heads us.

For me what edges it with Kate is her innovation without her women in music would not have the freedom or power without her she did alot by just being herself and for tha i commend her And oddly i always liken her to the female Bowie.

That is definitely for me the way i see it her innovation and unwillingness to compromise her artistic integrity for commercial gain like bush kind of marginalizes her and gets her overlooked. But in doing that that is what makes her an artist. And also the more chart friendly sounds of HF i feel also diminished it as people saw it as her following. But like Siouxsie Sioux i think in time too people will look at her and go actually you know what. And fo course credit to Will too

still dont understand the dislike for Head First ..... I thought it was a great 70 electro homage ...and Rocket so suprised me that it wasnt a top 10 hit .... so catchy and well produced pop, with a great music video.

I agree! Although it didn't click at first with me, needed a little bit of time to appreciate it!

Same here after listening to Supernature it isn't all that much of a world away its a continuation like going from the 70's to the 80's. I think after the lukewarm response of the album and rocket they pretty much gave up even though 3 more singles were released. And also with the likes of La Roux and little Boots spearheading the 80's synth revival it seemed that Goldfrapp were following those they had influenced and recurred a mini backlash for it.
