She's busy shagging other peoples husbands.

Always thought she was a sour faced little madam, and I don't miss her at all

She hated the judges daring to criticise her partners.

Perhaps, like Rats leaving a sinking ship!!!! I would imagine if DOI was still super popular with the viewers, the pro skaters would be frantic to get on the show. Last year it lost 2 million viewers and this year there is no tour!!!

Yeah I thought that was a bit big headed. I loved watching her skate though

Agree with both these points!

No tour? Actually quite gobsmacked at that. Anyone know why? Did the last one not make a big enough profit or something?

I got the impression from two years ago that Frankie (do you remember me!) and Jason absolutely could not stand each other. Perhaps one of his conditions for coming back as a judge was that she was dropped!

I think that Frankie may have dropped her surname in order to keep her personal life out of the limelight. When she first joined DOI, she was Frankie Poultney, which was her married name. Then she got divorced and, well, I have no idea if she and David Seaman have got married or not because they've pretty much kept their relationship out of the media, apart from when the news of them being a couple first broke. If they have married and Frankie were suddenly to be introduced as Frankie Seaman, it would have stirred up media interest again. She probably felt that not using a surname was the most discreet option.

On the one hand, I liked the fact that Frankie was protective of her celeb partners and stood up for them. On the other hand, she was about too aggressive about it and it didn't come across well. I felt that in that respect, she actually ended up being a bit of a liability to her partners, as her attitude put a lot of people off. I don't know why she's not back this year but I'm not missing her.

The show isn't popular enough to justify a tour anymore.

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite surprised at that. I wonder why they continue with the show on the TV, perhaps this will be it's last year?

So why have they already stated that the show is going to tour again in 2014? Tickets are meant to be on sale early this year. Lack of tour is meant to be due to lack of venue availabilty this year.

Personally think the reason as I've said before is either they have spent so much on Pamela Anderson that they can't afford to tour or as I really think they are wanting to go all out in 2014 for the 30th anniversary and make that a major tour.

Also think 2014 will be the last of DOI and T&D will retire again at that point so will want the last series and last tour to be big so hence save on this year. Although this is just my thoughts on this but would make sense to tie in with 30th anniversary and the fact that they are both in their 50s now and Chris seems to keep picking up a lot of injuries.

It's hardly worth a pro's time to do the show now, with no decent platform for exposure and no tour. I wouldn't cry too much if I were one of the guys who got dropped this year. That said, I was euphoric at Michael's return - right up til Lauren got voted off

Basically DOI's gone on too long, and while T&D still control the choreographical strings we're never going to get a real evolution of on-ice performance. I'm still watching because I quite enjoy the spectacle of good skating (when we get it), but if DOI disappeared from the schedules then I wouldn't be devastated.

Jayne & Chris said it was because venues not available foud that strange as surely you book one year to the next because you have a good idea of dates required. They did say though that they would be back next bigger and better.

But how much money do they make on the show and where else would they get nationwide exposure? no where.

I liked Frankie. But that's the producers for you they think they'll spice things up by bringing back Mr Nasty as a judge and changing the pro lineup. Don't think it's going to work. The show's not so good now but if it goes it would be great to replace it with something like they did last year/couple of years ago? When T+D were auditioning skaters for a show - I may not have these details correct as I've got a head like a sieve. I don't necessarily mean with T+D doing it but having people doing more 'off the wall' routines with people like Sebastien Foucan and dance routines more akin to what Diversity do.

Thats what BGT is there for technically and I think its Search for an Ice Star you are on about from a few years back and people didn't seem to be that interested in it. I wouldn't recommend off the wall ice skating routines I think they are far too risky and I think there are enough dance based shows without trying to make DOI more dance based it already annoys me the amount of stuff that is being done off of the ice now like a good chunk at the start of Matts routine being done off of the ice. I went to see Ice Party a few years ago and saw the Oxford Freestylers who won the Search for an Ice Star thing and witnessed one of them actually knocking themselves unconcious in the middle of the routine during the show. Not something I would want to see repeated.

I didn't like Sebastien for that reason last year as there was no focus on the actual skating and too much about the tricks and acrobatics. I would prefer DOI kept to the skating and the associated dance element within it.

Also again as Frankie keeps stating on twitter the pros were not axed. It appears they chose to leave of their own free will therefore they had to be replaced so apparently nothing to do with production getting rid of them. They can't force people to come back to the show and people naturally want to move on and do different things. While I don't hugely like Jason being back it has obviously got people talking about the show so the producers are partly correct in that sense.

Maybe she hasn't come back because of the new judges panel? Wouldn't be surprised and wouldn't blame her either!

I expect the money's good but not much to write home about compared to celeb fees - I remember on SCD a few years back it was revealed the pros were getting around 25k a series for choreography, group numbers throughout the series and additional media (e.g. ITT), whereas celeb fees started at twice that just for learning to dance.

The thing about exposure would ring truer if the pros were actually able to stamp their personalities on the show at all. Obviously the big difference between DOI and SCD is that on DOI the pros aren't choreographing routines (or if they do do some of it they're not credited), so you don't get a sense of how they really like to skate and how they want the partnership to develop - it's all subsumed under a big wave of 'aren't T&D great?' With so much filler in the shows now they hardly get a chance to speak at all on camera. I doubt it's much of a gig compared to a big ice spectacular in terms of enhancing your career

Many of the pros are not British of course so it's understandable after a while that they decide they don't want to be away from home for several Months of the year. The novelty of being on telly probably fades & eventually the cons outweigh the pros.

For those who are British based though it's probably more attractive (and remember Maria & Matt have moved to the UK now). Decently paid work for a few months and they can spend the rest of the year on other work/projects or time with their families (I doubt Maria would have stayed so long if she hadn't moved with her son).
