I'm not. I explained why I thought the iPad was a better choice and gave reasons. You then tried to dismiss those reasons, including claiming 4.3 aspect is a weakness. I feel I've discussed the benefits and actually shown that 16.9 is a weakness.

So which do you own? A iPad mini or nexus 7?

I don't understand why. It has advantages and no disadvantage as far as I can see.

I can understand why the lower PPI of the iPad Mini screen would be a detractor, but the actual 16:9 image shown is bigger.

The Fire HD and N7 (and N10) are all 16:10 so you'll still get black strips on the top and bottom when viewing full frame 16:9, but I won't get pedantic about that.

The 16:9 area on a Nexus 7 screen is 19.75 inē (6.8 inch diagonal)
The 16:9 area on an iPad Mini screen is 22.2 inē (7.2 inch diagonal)

That's 12.4% bigger on the iPad Mini.

Gonna answer the questions now?

I don't care for YOUR preferences of what YOU think is better. Its about what I want.

Whats the problem here? You may like Panasonic tellys, i prefer Samsung. Its called preference. Christ!!

Funny its all the apple fans here hounding me

I really can't understand this obsession. With 16:9. Putting aside that the iPad is actually better at showing 16:9 than the N7, I have no desire whatever to watch movies on any tablet. I only ever watch movies with my wife and we will either go to the cinema or watch on a proper TV.
Perhaps it comes down to the fact that people obsessed with watching movies on tablets are sad single people

No one is hounding you, it's just every time you have tried to point out where an Apple device is lacking , a kind forum member has showed you how you were incorrect.

All the newer devices are fine, and Apple devices are fine, just grow up and deal with it.

Its not about being incorrect! This is what you fail to understand! Its about preference. Your preference is apple devices correct? You slate constantly with false information anything Android yet you have the cheek to tell me to grow up!!

No idea how many times this is but, are you going to answer my questions or are you gonna constantly avoid them?

So people who watch movies on tablets while on a plane like we did with the ipad when there was no entertainment, or on a train are sad single people?

Right!!

Ok. It's clear you aren't interested in debate.

Just remember when you make statements and ask questions (post #55) and then get an answer you don't like, it is better to just concede a point than ignore it

I like the getting defensive technique though, very mature.

I watch movies on the train all the time, complete with black bars

No, that would be you. You cant understand, or fail, I've no idea which, why people have a different preference to you. Why is that?

Why would i concede when in my opinion your incorrect?

Of course it is! You always seem to end a post to people these days mocking their posting ways. Very mature.

How the hell did you arrive at that sweeping statement?

I can't find a single film that is in 16.9. Of course it's not important as the nexus 7 isn't 16.9 either as was also pointed out to me the other day.”

Most films are shot in an aspect ratio greater than 16:9, usually 2.35:1/2.39:1/2.40:1 ("CinemaScope").

There are still many that are shot in 1.85:1 (close to 16:9, which is actually 1.7recurring:9), with some directors such as Guillermo del Toro (Blade 2, Hellboy 1 & 2, Pan's Labyrinth) apparently always using it.

16:9 is also the standard aspect ratio for HDTV.

Because i'm disagreeing with him, he decided to add a small and silly insult.

You said all broadcasts and films are in 16.9, remember.

You moan when you ask questions and people don't answer. And try and ignore and detract when they do answer and you are wrong.

Thankfully the thread is there for anyone to read.

Thanks for that informative post.

I can't find a single film in my collection that is in 16.9

No, actually you are right, that is one scenario where watching a movie on a tablet makes sense, although if travelling with my wife we tend to prefer to watch on the laptop (with two pairs of earphones).
The ironic thing about my "sad single" posting is that i am currently away on business and posting this from Prezzos while having my sad single meal

There are quite a few big-name films in this list...http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-r...ect-ratio.html

Plus, as mentioned, HDTV is in 16:9.

[Side note: I don't have a widescreen tablet myself, nor anything Android, I have an iPad 3. I just wanted to point out that there is a lot of 16:9 content out there]

The ones i download from the states ARE in 16:9. Just because you say they aren't doesn't make it so.

I have films in 16:9.

I haven't ignored anything. Not once. I am however disagreeing with you. Some people on here dont answer a thing. I'm not wrong!
