Why are there so many films on iTunes which you can only rent in high definition but are able to buy in standard definition? I'd like the option to puchase in HD.

I assume it's to do with distribution rights.

Personally, I use the US iTunes Store on my AppleTV or iTunes and all movies available to rent in HD are available to buy in HD. At least the movie I rent (1 or 2 every months).
Do you have an example ?

The film "A Bridge Too Far". Only available to rent in HD in the UK iTunes Store. But can be bout for £6.99 in SD.

The movie is only available to rent on the US Store. Do you have another example? lol
