I think the implication of the "naked Sindy" was that her parents bought it in a charity shop or something so it was second-hand and didn't come with any clothes or accessories. Because heaven forbid that some people can't afford to buy Xboxes, Mulberry bags and "N.Peal" for presents ...
I seriously doubt that almost 4,000 people just HAD to send Liz Christmas wishes after reading her column, but then I'm reminded of when she wrote about how broke she was after spending £20,000 on a "bat sanctuary" and people wrote in offering to send her money to look after her animals. She admits this week alone to spending a fortune on hair, new clothes, waxing, pedicure, and a cashmere sweater for DScrace's Xmas present (oh, but it's OK because she's "economising" by using an Oyster card), I hope this will be taken into account in her IVA proceedings ... |

It is fair to say that if any man (or out of favour female associate) DID simply buy her the easy Diptyque candle or whatever, Liz would complain that it had the wrong fragrance. Or wasn't spontaneous or thoughtful enough.
"I'd have been happy with a simple Bois Cire pillar candle, but he'd chosen the sickly Baies Noire in the smallest possible size. He knows I hate coloured candles, and the scent gives me a headache!" |

Has anyone read this article on Liz Jones? It's from 2014 but I just came across it and man, it pisses me off. No, Liz Jones' "only crime" is not that she is an older, long-haired neurotic woman. It's that she's an absolutely vile, more-selfish-than-should-ever-be-possible moron who destroys seemingly everyone she encounters from behind the safety of her laptop and doesn't care to stop no matter how much it hurts people. To see someone defending Liz Jones out of the most misplaced sense of feminist ever absolutley enrages me, as an actual feminist.

"has an opinion and is not afraid to write it" - I am sick of the attitude that "opinion" is the catch-all excuse for being an a*sehole. Here are some other people who regularly express their opinions in the Mail: Richard Littlejohn, Peter Hitchens (older men), William Hanson (young man), Sarah Vine (short-haired older woman). All are widely disliked and criticised. Why? Because they're snobbish, bigoted, hypocritical, offensive, and/or all-around awful writers - just like darling Liz!
Then talking about Liz's "Maverick stance on women that ostensibly doesn't fit with the Mail's retrograde ideals", while admitting that Liz regularly says vile things about mothers and women in general, exactly like the rest of the paper does. I won't even go into "the nation's favourite voodoo doll" or all the stuff about how in the past Liz would have been burnt at the stake for daring to speak her mind. Of the Mail's female columnists, Katie Hopkins is far more regularly trashed online and in the press than Liz, as is Samantha Brick |

Why claim LJ broke glass ceilings of sexism? Eve Pollard was there years before,Probably there were others,I am no expert on fleet street. Surely even the odious Melanie Phillips is older? Oh but they won't count because they had an actual education.

I do think it's possible LJ is on the autism spectrum, as the writer surmises, and one way or another I think we can all agree that she's not entirely right and deeply unhappy. Not a nice person, to be sure, but also somehow lacking in the ability to understand that when she treats people badly, they respond in kind.
I am still unsure as to how much of what she writes she genuinely believes, and how much is supposed to be "frothy fantasy", and how much is clickbait trolling. But I do get the impression that these three "styles" are increasingly bleeding into each other and it makes for very uncomfortable and infuriating writing. |

The Huffpo writer also pulls out the old chestnut of "you're all just jellus"...maybe SHE is jealous of LJ but she is making the classic mistake of thinking that we're all obsessed by money and material gain. Thankfully there are still people out there who realise that money and shopping aren't the be all, end all of human existence.
The whole article is just so completely wrong I can't roll my eyes enough. |

Empathy? Pah! Who needs that when I have an OPINION. Taking a moment to really think about what I'm saying and the impact it could have on others? No, no! I must speak my mind NOW least I be silenced by some sinister agenda like patriarchy or closed-minded jealous women. For goodness sake. |

Not to mention the fact that someone who supposedly earns half a million a year yet is constantly broke gives little cause for jellusy, and rather more for scorn.

But I do get the impression that these three "styles" are increasingly bleeding into each other and it makes for very uncomfortable and infuriating writing. LJ may well be on the spectrum but she's probably not, and it's not for those who know nothing about the condition to speculate. Unlike most people on the spectrum, she has had not just employment but a successful career, and also seems to adequately manage living on her own. The only potential signs are her alleged anorexia nervosa (contrary to public opinion, the main risk factors for developing the condition are having autism, as well as being a victim of child sex abuse, incidentally), and the fact that she's unsociable. But she might never have even had the anorexia, there's no evidence that it's true and she could just be attention seeking again. She also misrepresents the condition to the public, which is harmful for sufferers. I don't want LJ to get any ideas and start falsely claiming that she has autism, and make people like us look bad, too. |

I don't think she is unsociable - antisocial yes
. She goes to parties, including one just recently. She meets friends for lunch. She has a close companion (or whatever Nic is). She was once married and is now engaged (maybe). Also, the people on the autism spectrum that I have known, were mortified when they found out they had inadvertently upset someone by their behaviour. Liz Jones only ever blames the person she's upset. |

One of the problems with Liz writing about her own life in closer-to-print-deadline farticles as well as the Dreary is that she often pre-empts her own "surprises". So we knew David would still be with her for Christmas even as they were, in Dreary-land, broken up. And now we know that when he goes to her at Christmas he will arrive with a dead poinsettia, a toy ukulele (how does she know it was a toy? They all look like that) and some fancy undies that she doesn't like.
I am horrified at her implication that 300 quid for a gift was a bit skimpy. They're both supposedly living on the bones of their arses and she with debt galore ... that's a week's rent at least, and everyone knows that in London no less than half your income, usually more, goes on rent alone. If he bought that bra and knickers full price he wouldn't have had much change out of such a sum. As for her threat that she might be going to run off with a movie star, good luck with that... |

From the farticle... she eats hard boiled eggs - an odd food choice for such a militant vegan - and she's now a "former" anorexic.

"My wooden spoon is a virgin. She would like to grow up to be a nun." -- WTF? Is this some bizarre way of saying "Don't use the wooden spoon"?
Nice to see that she equates dropping one's phone in the toilet with one of the most abhorrent forms of torture. And if DScrace is unsteady enough that she is seriously concerned he might fall down the steps, why doesn't she take some safety measures (like putting up a baby gate) instead of barking "I REFUSE TO BE YOUR CARER!" at him? Oh well, looks like in a couple of weeks we'll be getting repeats of all the old Rockstar entries but replaced with "Movie Star." |

I wonder who the movie star isn't? Presumably they'd be a peer agewise at least. With her liking for piggy eyes perhaps it's not Richard Gere. Or not Steven Seagal.

I feel bad for him now if he's in such bad health. It means he probably is with her for the financial security and company and explains why he never stays away from her. And she broadcasts all his problems like that instead of sending him on his way kindly but firmly, that is truly awful. |
