---- Also, I noticed in a tweet about a newspaper headline tomorrow I noticed mention of multiple abuse/assault allegations at a school as well as hospitals and the BBC - when did he visit schools? did he give speeches at some career days event or something? I don't remember ever reading about him going to schools...hmmm. |

Newsnight.
Kim Harrison, lawyer representing victims. Saying they're still getting new calls every week. Ken MacDonald, ex DPP; police hadn't told victims they could have anonymity in court, or that there were other victims who could corroborate. Clear case for compensation where institutions didn't fulfil their duty of care. Lisa Harker, NSPCC. Says case has led to huge increase in reporting to NSPCC. |

Are the statistics here correct?
https://twitter.com/theipaper/status...128513/photo/1 I thought I'd heard there were 31 allegations of rape, not 34 and the youngest child was aged 10? or am I getting mixed up? that mentions schools as well... |

"take half the station" may not mean involvement in child abuse. More fiddling overtime, tAking bungs, shagging a criminal's wife, nicking drug evidenceetc.

I work as a nurse in Scotland and have to undergo a full disclosure/criminal records xheck on employment. Haven't had to fill one in since 2005 though, however if convicted of anything since I eould be suspended and ultimately fired.

whatever helps! I bet some kids would be seriously disappointed if they were given homework in hospital - like there's no escape from homework lol. I imagine it would be quite comforting if you were otherwise on your own, to have someone to talk to like that...I 'only' have my parents to talk to most of the time, or friends on twitter. I know my mum was getting a bit fed up in the ward she was on over Christmas because other patients had loud relatives who would visit when she wanted to get rest...

I don't remember having to complete any forms for criminal record checks or anything - I was offered the job the day after the interview and started work a few days later (in 2002). There are young students that live on campus but I guess they don't think its high priority to insist on such things?. If I see bullying when im working on my own, I'm not the best to deal with such things and warn people off, I'd probably be nervous of getting shouted at myself lol im really not the best at dealing with disruptive students, even though I'm at least a decade older than most of them - I really need to get more confidence for that sort of thing... I can't imagine a student deciding to confide in me either, I think I tend to look quite stressed so they gravitate more towards the others (who are too quick to point out my shortcomings to the students sometimes - ugh ). I'd like to seem/be more approachable but oh well...anyway sorry, prattling on again(!)

![]() I didn't want to call in to work sick today though ive been off colour because I know I'd have to have a return to work interview with my male boss and I don't want to explain what the issue was (even though he's quite nice generally) - happy days(!). Luckily I felt better by the afternoon though...been very depressed this week, works not helping, being treated pretty bad - im clamming alot up but dont feel I can just bring up such things at work or otherwise *sigh* anyway, going off topic sorry. I'm off to bed(!). |

No one suspected anything, the concensus from day shift was "imagine someone that famous giving up their time". Mum always.worried about what would have happened if the kids became ill while out with him. She never met him as this was generaly a Sunday afternoon thing. |

Yes. That was my guess. I only wished they made it clear there were evidences in some of those reports, no need to give details. The report is very short and weak and only fueled the some misogynistic people out there. I suspect that if the majority of Savile's victims were male they would be way more believed.

Ewwww. Is this for real? Are they doing it in purpose, showing those picture where he is half-naked and/or looking creepy as hell? I'm sure most people hate it. |

I'm going through the papers.
Telegraph leads with the CPS report rather than the Met/NSPCC one: Police told Savile victim she would be 'mincemeat' Police dissuaded one of Jimmy Savile's victims from giving evidence against him by telling her he was a “big celebrity” who would make “mincemeat” out of her in court, according to an official report. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...mincemeat.html Guardian also leading on the police errors http://www.guardian.co.uk/ The Independent's coverage seems most balanced and comprehensive to me, although even they have a gurning Savile photo http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...s-8448106.html The Times leads on what it will cost public bodies in compensation: Public to pay as Savile’s victims seek millions http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/ |

The Daily Mail (being the Daily Mail!) of course leads with Kate's baby bump, and the Savile reports relegated to second place
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html The Express goes with BBC denying they vetoed setting up a hotline for Savile victims http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/...ll-for-hotline Daily Mirror leads with Savile's claim that his police mates would look after him Cops Will Fix It: Jimmy Savile boasted his pals in police would protect him from child abuse claims Savile created an inner circle of police who met weekly at his Leeds penthouse at what was dubbed the Friday Morning Club http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...police-1530688 The Sun He groomed the nation http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...he-nation.html Daily Star goes with the weak "groomed the nation" line too http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view...omed-a-nation/ |

The Daily Express paper version has devoted most of the front page to the weather telling us it will be the worst freeeze for 20 years with Saville being a small pic on the bottom right hand side, I assume more inside. |

Fri night Radio 4's The World Tonight
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ht_11_01_2013/ Has an interview with a male victim, Kevin Cook, who says he only came forward when he discovered there was another male victim. Ex-DPP says 3 of the 4 cases could have been prosecuted, the 3 corroborating each other, but the police didn't tell the complainants that there were other complainants; that corroboration hasn't been a legal requirement for years, and victims were not told that they could have anonymity if they went to court. Says witnesses should have the option of giving evidence via video link instead of just behind a screen; thinks this is the sort of thing Keir Starmer has in mind. Item starts 8mins in. |
