Nokia 820 camera

Does anyone know if the Nokia Lumia 820 has a camera button please? Like on the old nokias when you held he camera up to take a picture you clicked a button on the side like a proper camera. I had a samsung galaxy s2 and I hated the camera because the "take photo" button was on the screen, very awkward to use.

If there isnt one on the Nokia can someone reccommend me the phone with the BEST camera facilities. Im not arsed about any of the other features on a phone. Except maybe spotify.

I did look at Nokia pureview 808 but its not released by any of our networks.

It uses a Sony camera
It takes 13mp still images
Some other stuff I cant remember.

Not sure about the 820, sorry. Why not watch a review of the 820 camera on youtube.

Cool thanks both!

My husband had one of the first Sony Xperia, he hated it! I will look at it though won't rule anything out

I recommend going to a store to check them both out.

The Xperia T has the best camera on any smartphone at the moment. (bar the Pureview). The 820 is a bit smaller and not as bulky but still takes great shots. Plus Windows Phone is quite easy to use. But if you had an android phone before you might be more comfortable with another one like the Xperia T.

XperiaT sounds good! I like the fact you can press the camera button and the camera will fire up and take a picture in under a second, even if it's locked!

From what I've seen of it, its no better than the 920, and way behind the 808 on image quality. Which probably means that its not as good for stills as the >2 year old Nokia N8. Typically grainy compact sensor results.

Glad I got an 808 .... and going SIM only makes for way more flexibility.

Is the camera really all that? Its the main feature I want on the phone, so its important to me. If so, I may well try and save up to buy an 808. Where did you buy it from, please, because a few people Ive seen on amazon have put in their reviews that the phone came from Malaysia and therefore the warranty is invalid.

I bought mine - on release from Amazon UK, its a "UK" spec model.

And yes, the camera on the 808 really is that good. It is better than 99% of compact cameras (ie you need to go for a bridge or DSLR to improve), has audio recording that defies belief (I've recorded rock gigs with the 808 practically in the speakers, I couldn't hear for days, but the 808 recorded it with zero distortion).

If having a decent camera is important to you, then the iPhone 4S/5, SGS3, Lumia 820 or 920 and anything from Sony or HTC will be often fail to produce decent results.

The only caveat is that sometimes you do have to tinker with the settings to get better results, just as you would with any decent camera - tweaking ISO, enabling/disabling the ND filter, flash forced/fill in, etc. etc.)

How can you know when you go on Amazon its a UK spec? Im trying to do my homework but I only briefly looked on the sellers descriptions and there was no mention (iirc) of the country spec.

I know many camera reviewers said it is better than many SLRs

Now I like the idea that the sound is good as well! I taped a show on my friends Nokia about 2 years ago and it was crystal, on my Samsung it was awful - I put it down to being at a different type of gig though. The Samsung S2 camera has been unbelievably shite, in my experiences the Nokia has always had the best cameras too (and you are really selling me the 808 here!)

So do I go for the Xperia T which I can probably get now, on my contract, OR save up and get the 808 around April time.... decisions!!!

awww mannn! someone just posted this! http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pho...1119637/review good camera!

Oh another question!

As friends of mine gleefully point out the 808 is on Symbian - its obsolete!!!! Is this really such a deal breaker? I mean, Im not arsed about the Apps - except Spotify, thats the only App I really would be bothered about (as I pay monthly and couldnt be arsed collecting all my songs on another app, unless i really had to) Can you get Spotify on Symbian and surely developers will still make Symbian apps for a while at least - seeing as people still have Sybian mobiles?

Its about as obsolete as half of the Android devices currently sold that won't ever go past 2.3 and about as obsolete at the Lumia 800 thats still being sold in stores and won't get WP8.

The 808 is getting bug fixes and updates (its had one this year), but sadly there has never been a spotify client for Symbian.

Yes, there are still plenty of apps available for Symbian, up until a few months back there was more available for Symbian than there was for WP. I can use whatsapp, have a few games on there, have a music player built in that makes the iPhone sat here look useless. Decent twitter and facebook clients (I prefer the twitter clients on Symbian to any I've used on iOS).

It depends on how important the camera is to you - the unit isn't that bad in the other mainstream phones, its just that the 808 (and the N8 before) really are on a completely different level - they're proper cameras, not toys for occasional snaps.

Oh no deal breaker....

Are there other music apps on there LIKE spotify?
