This is brilliant. Have wondered many times what hes been up to since 'Reality' and if he was in bad health as he is normally quite prolific.
The singles good - bit of a slow burner though. Video is super weird (which is good) and harks back to his Berlin era. And I laughed out loud when I saw the album cover! |

I was listening to Radio 4 like an hour ago and they said they'd play his new single. Which I thought was strange, since that station doesn't usually play much music lol.

I just hope that this new album isn't going to be a digital-only release!! I hope we will be able to buy an actual physical copy in record stores!!!
By the way, its his birthday today!!! ![]()

BBC Radio 4 clip of "Where Are We Now" was really depressing. Pretty awful.

Where did this spring out of?!! I was thinking it was more likely for Hitler to be resurrected and starting World War III.

I agree its very far from the happiest song to release as a comeback single, but with David Bowie this is typical of him and I'd rather have that than make a bubblegum pop song like Robbie Williams' Candy. Where Are We Now is entirely appropriate for a music genius like David. It sounds like business as usual like Bowie never was away.
I'm absolutely giddy about the news. I've been listening to the new single on loop most of the morning, and can't wait for March. I entered the Bowie scene a little too late (summer 2004), after his last album Reality and after his health problems. Now I'm glad to say I can look forward to a whole new Bowie album, and I'll be totally grateful he found the energy to end the 10 year lull of music, although I won't say no to a tour, but one thing at a time regardless. I await more details later today. BTW: he was in the video. His face was on one of the puppets and appears properly towards the end. |

Heard the whole track on Six Music's Sean Keavney breakfast show, and was underwhelmed. I kept waiting for it to get better, or produce a killer hook, but all I heard was pretty meandering. Quite disappointing. That said, there's a whole new album coming! Given that his last proper album, Reality, contained some fantastic tracks, I'm thinking that 'The Next Day' surely must have something fab on it. |

I quite like the song and video. It is what it is really. I think that's the good thing for Bowie.. he doesn't have to tick many boxes. He can just do what he wants to do at this stage in his career and let the audience make of it what they will.

Too early to start the Bowie for Glastonbury 2013 campaign?

Love the new single, gave me a lump to the throat. Best thing he's done in years - reminds me of Absolute Beginners a little bit.

And back on topic I thought that David had retired due to ill health. So glad that perhaps things are a little better, |

The song is depressing but I think this is a good thing, like Berlin in the 70's

Sounds like his singing voice has completely gone. Song's OK, nothing special. Pretty mournful ballad for a comeback.

A new song about Berlin?? wearing a T-shirt in the video with Song Of Norway on the front?? Could this spell some sort of message that he could be harking to get back to Europe?? Could him and his family up sticks and move from New York to Europe??

I haven't listened to his new song yet but I am made up about this! I adore David and have always been gutted that I became a fan after his last tour in 2004 (I got into his music via the great Life On Mars tv show). I would kill to see him live but a new album after such a long time is jolly good too.
Can't wait for the album release!!!

I like the song and everything but I don't really "get" what it's about. It reminds me a bit of some of P J Harvey's work, which is a good thing but again, a bit obscure.

brilliant news! I liked the single - of course it's not going to be like his most famous bits and pieces as he's moved on from all that. I thought it sounded like a new direction, which if he was to make a comeback would be exactly what we should want him to do surely?
