iPhone 3GS White screen after lock
-GONZO-
08-01-2013
My 3GS since yesterday monrning has got the White Screen of Death issue.
It boots up fine and as long as I don't let it lock then the screen stays active and I can use it as normal, but as soon as I lock and unlock the white screen appears. If I reboot (power/home) it boots up fine and is usable again until locked.
I've disabled auto-lock in the settings which is a workable solution, but that's no good in the long term having it on 24/7.
Its well and truly out of warranty and my upgrade with Three isn't due until June, but isn't that long to justify an expensive repair.
I've searched online and cannot find a definitive answer so am hoping that anyone here knows of a fix or even what's causing it?
Regards

At a push it could be the LCD or cable assembly.

If a factory restore doesn't cure it, you could try this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Full-Front...item27bfc1500d

(two screws on the bottom of the phone, three connectors to disconnect, clean the connections on the logic board, reconnect new unit and put back together)

If neither of those solves it, it's probably the logic board itself that has had it.

Thanks for the reply
As it happens I've got that link already bookmarked just in case.
It just seems odd why it only happens once its been locked.

My guess would be something power related... it does sound extremely weird to be fair.

Yeah, those complete housings are so much easier than separating the existing LCD from the existing frame and replacing it
