3g usage whilst connected to wifi
Guys,
The wifes phone had a bit of melt down during Saturday night. The phone was fully charged going to bed but went flat in the night, also managing to use 300+mb of data in the process. Thing is, it was connected to the home wife network at the time. Two questions really, What could have used all that data in one night ? How come it used the 3g data when it was connected to the wifi ? Cheers, |

Some (all?) phones don't connect to the WiFi until they are "awake", and keep only the 3G connection active when "asleep".
What phone is it? What OS? Had she set it downloading anything at all before going to bed? |

Hi Matt,
It's a Samsung galaxy ace 2 running android. Nothing was set running. She's had the phone 6 months now without any problems until this. This is the first time I've come across this problem and I've been running android for 3 years now. |

Why don't you just turn the data connection off whilst you are at home. That it was what I do with my phone, I only ever turn the mobile data on if I want to use it.
That way it saves your data. |

I could just turn the data off, but to be honest I thought it switched itself off when it connected to the wifi.
I'm hoping it was just a one off as 300+mb seems an awful lot of data to update an app or two. Cheers for the suggestions guys. |
