Hollyoaks- Did Bart deserve a better exit?
Although many people have not liked what bart has done recently or turned in too,
i feel like his exit was far to rushed and quick the Character has been through alot and they should of redeemed him they should of had him arrive back at the mcqueen house hold to find a group photo of him jono and neil then a photo of him and jasmine as he looks himself in the mirror he realises what he has become and breaks down he then Dumps the weed box and hands himself into the police for what He has done Bk really didnt plan out this exit what so ever imo any thoughts/ |

So he'll never know Sineads baby may not be his.. Then what was even the point of having her and Rhys sleep together??

He could never have been redeemed in my eyes, but I do think his exit was wrong and rushed.
They had set up a storyline of him being caught out for his role in the crash, then all of a sudden they had Joel seek his help to go against Brendan, something which Bart wouldn't do because he is a coward, then a episode later he is gone, running away with someone who threatened him last year with the drugs that he was growing. |

The exit was pretty rushed but the character hadn't been particularly important to the show and isn't going to be remembered in, say, five years time. In the short term, it was probably better that they get the exit out of the way and concentrate of strengthening the characters that remain. |

Good post op. I totally agree with your post. I would have loved to have seen something like that play out on screen.
Unfortunately I think they wasted the character and the actors potential after Victoria Atkin left. Imo Bart was never the same after Jason left. But maybe that's me being biased as I loved there relationship.

Joel deserved a bigger exit. They could have done a bigger exit for Joel - and just have Bart come along for the ride. But lets face it, that was Joel's exit more than it was Bart's.

That is rubbish makes you wonder what was the point in lying to him about the baby they could of least gave the storyline some closure.

In real life and especially in soap, people are not all good or all bad/ Joel was the only teen who was capable of playing with the big boys and holding his own.

Pity they didn't finish Bart's storyline. I would have preferred him to have left after he found out that Sinead was carrying Rhys' baby. It doesn't make much sense as he was excited about Sinead and the baby either. Joel, I could understand though, him and Theresa haven't much shown together much since their time in Ireland on Hollyoaks Later.

they could have made Joel great, especially with his 'bond' with Brendan which they then destroyed :/ Bart i just dont even get, kinda sad hes gone but what was the point in this whole baby thing if they were just gonna let him leave like that

To me it seemed more like that was meant to be Andrews exit and then suddenly Johnny decided he was leaving as well so they tagged him in there.
Never cared for Bart so don't really care, but I had a soft spot for Joel (and I think Andrew was very capable) so I wish it had been built up better. |

I haven't watched tonights episode yet but I didn't realise his exit was this sudden! There has been no build up to an exit as far as I'm concerned. The other week he was happy about his baby. Then he just goes. Makes no sense. Does he have any goodbye with Sinead? Or does Sinead find out? Or is that for tonights E4 ep?

I think turning himself into the police would have been a fitting exit for him; he's done so many awful things as character yet has got away with it each time despite the fact that he does have, somewhere in him, a basic moral compass (as evidenced by the Jason storyline.) But I suspect the writers/producers wanted to get him out quickly to make more room for other storylines, and to focus on the far more developed and popular characters that will be leaving soon. Turning himself into the police would have meant doing court scenes, having the McQueens/Sinead more involved etc, and the producers probably didn't want to invest that much in him when there are other decent storylines going on at the moment or about to happen soon.
Anyway, can't say I'll miss him too much, but I'd feel a little bit annoyed if I was the actor playing him, I have to say. He's been on the show for a decent amount of time and hasn't done a bad job in the role. He deserved a better send-off than that. |

Another case of Hollyoaks rushing an exit. The whole sinead baby situation was pointless in the end! They'd have been better leaving him in Amsterdam with the Dutch lass.
