I don't think anybody cares anymore. They'd rather they just get the bloody things launched.

They are obviously signing up all the channels prior to launching.

I do think people care as the more channels then the better value it is.

So does anyone know the answer to the million dollar question of 'when?'.

I have to admit these types of announcements were met with real excitement from me about 8 months ago but my excitement levels have waned significantly since then.

Yes it is getting rather tedious with the constant drip feed of "exciting" channels being added. Not sure that BT know at present when the channels will be launched - all we know for certain is that they will have to be launched before the start of the 2013/14 football season.

what is perhaps more interesting is that there is no sign of BT signing up Sky channels. Is there a possibility that Bt will not carry any of the Sky Sports channels ?

Of course. I agree with that but for Vision customers it's got to be incredibly frustrating seeing new press releases but still being none the wiser on when the announcements from last year will see the light of day, let alone any new additions.

Will they be getting the additional channels from the 3 providers or just the ones stated?

Think it's July for the YouView boxes.

BT will be carrying Sky's channels on their BT Vision service, as that was shown in last year's Sky presentation

Until you see an official press release stating the arrival of Sky1, Sky Living etc, I really wouldn't count on that.

The BT press release just says:
MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon channels will be streamed on BT Vision, with some programmes available on-demand from early 2013.
Full press release here.

My reading of that extract from the BT press release is that the linear channels will not be launched in early 2013 so the next range of dates would be March to June 2013. Cant be much later as BT will need to launch their sports channels.

I agree - even though BT originally said that channels like FX etc would be launched in 2012, it feels like they don't really care how late they are, as long as they are launched before the BT Sports channels then that's all that matters to them, as essentially that is when BT will really start to market the service.

The article says 3 channels: MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. But also mentions Nick Jr launching later.

Well spotted, it was buried away at the end of the paragraph that talked about Nickleodeon!

Good spot.

I'm sure it never said that bit yesterday though!

Heres a post from a BT Community Moderator -
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all

BT has launched extra TV channels on BT Vision for eligible customers, offering 22 new channels streamed live over Infinity broadband. We’ll be contacting eligible customers as we roll this out, but right now please note you cannot order this service unless you receive a call from us about it.

The info at http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/42672 is the help articles we’ve uploaded for the first customers to take up the service.

Cheers

Craig

I spoke to BT yesterday on the phone and was told I would definately need BT infinity in order to get the extra channels, and in the recent meeting employees attended regarding the channels they were not given a launch date for the channels in case there were were further delays but that it should be within the next 3 months. As i dont have infinity in my area though its pretty much hard luck for me . Then I spoke to a second person today... who said ALIBI and WATCH were freeview channels and BT wouldnt know when freeview were launching those channels in my area. I did try to explain that it had been quoted in various places that they had been signed up to BT vision (not freeview) but gave up arguing the point since he seemed adamant they were freeview channels.

Lol. It's Infinity or no channels from BT. Unless you just want selected catch-up programmes... They'll be available without Infinity. TalkTalk offer channels without the need for fibre though, so that could capitalise on BT's Infinity rule.

Off the top of my head National Geographic, Discovery, Animal Planet, Discovery Real Time, Watch, Gold, Alibi, Fox, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, Nat Geo Wild, Universal Channel, Syfy, E!, British Eurosport 1 & 2

I'm sure somebody else can fill in the blanks.
