Hi,

Can I use a TalkTalk branded Youview box without having TalkTalk Broadband as I have broadband with o2 (10Mb speed)?

Also, is it possible to debrand the TT box to generic Youview box?

Thanks in advance...Ash

Yes you can. And when you connect the box to another third party ISP the TT player will just disappear from the menu.

And the same applies to a YouView from BT box too.

I use mine on Virgin Media because TalkTalk broadband only syncs at 2.7Mb/s so not fast enough without buffering (TT BB is backup).

YouView box is fully functioning, BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD, Five/Milkshake and NOW TV.

The only thing that doesn't work is the TalkTalk player, that disappears on another ISP.

If you decide to use it again on TalkTalk (For TalkTalk TV) again another day you may have to perform a software update for it to show up again.

I bought a BT Box and connected to TalkTalk.

iPlayer works but when I try to sign up to TalkTalk I get an error TTG-705

TT Help pages simply say to disconnect router and box for 1 min. Then call their CS department.

The CS department can only tell me to go to 'my box supplier'

Is this an issue that the box is locked to BT and will not allow me to access the TT Player?

I am not using the TT router - could that be the issue?

If the cause is because it is locked to BT can I change the firmware to an unlocked version?

Thanks ColinK

Hi Colin,

No one box is 'locked' to any one supplier. At the moment, only boxes supplied by TT can access the TT Player (which are made by Huawei).
