FOX President wants Britney Spears back for Season 3 & Possible Replacements
If this is true, it seems to be a big risk
FOX Boss: We Want Britney Spears Back for Season 3 of X Factor Simon Cowell Recruiting Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry, Shania Twain for “X Factor”? |

I don't think Jessica would fit in really. Shania would be a sensible choice because a country star has just won. I would love Katy on the panel because she's hilarious but she'll be too busy next year.
So the panel looks like it will probably be: (???/Chris Brown) (Shania/Britney) (Demi/Shania) Simon, at the moment. |

Imagine Britney and Justin on the same panel though!

Shania Twain is definitely the most logical move to keep and bring in country fans. American Idol are clearly doing this with Keith Urban this series. I just hope they do the right thing and have her replace Britney and not Demi. She was great this season and kept things interesting when Britney just didn't deliver on any level.
I really hope Chris Brown isn't the new male judge. Justin Timberlake would be a great choice but I just don't see him doing it. I'd pick someone like Lenny Kravitz but that's just me. |

If they really want to increase ratings: replace Demi with Enrique, Britney with Justin, LA with Adam Levine (steal him from the Voice somehow) and then somehow replace Simon with Jared Leto and then there you have it! The hottest judging panel ever to exist on any TV show. Every girl from the US to Japan, from 1 to 100 years old would tune in to watch it.

Replace Britney with a cardboard cut out and it will be about as interesting as the woman herself, but less expensive.

There is no way fox can get a big name for The X Factor now. Britney may not have been a drama bringing judge but she did bring n viewers. Without Britney there is no way the show could have even floated any where near the rating it eventually got. Yes they were down, but anyone who thinks Britney's presence didn't minimise the damage from season one is delusional. The reason the ratings dropped was because of Fox messing around with the airtime, before that they were averaging around 3.9 which was still very good.
But now without Britney, the show has no current or relevant stars while it's competitors have Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Shakira and Usher. There is no way this show has the draw to bring in a name like that, and it certainly won't have the budget for it anymore. Lol at Jessica Simpson being considered. She is nothing more than a Britney wannabe and has no idea how to have a successful career in pop. |

In theory they could have an eye on Shakira or Usher - both are only doing one cycle of The Voice. Neither would cost $15m either. They can be creative - the best picks for talent shows typically haven't involved looking at the Hot 100 and picking from the top 20 names. Idol was Simon, Randy and Paula. The Voice had artists but none were flying high. Christina was completely over and were it not for Moves Like Jagger, still would be. Cee-Lo and Blake have never been huge names in US music let alone pop culture. And Maroon 5 were coming off a weak album. But both those panels worked. There's quite a supply of names that aren't necessarily "A List" in terms of celebrity status, but are big hits music wise. People like Michael Buble, Alicia Keys (whose latest album has struggled) come to mind. A few people from country music very much in this category. People who are respected and/or have had plenty of success behind them but are older now and not so active - Mary J Blige or indeed, ex Spice Girls! Avril Lavigne is another name that gets bandied around - was huge, still has name recognition, but recent albums haven't fared well (didn't care for her much on her Idol stint, however). Then there are producers, A&R's, managers... I think this time around we might see them worry less about the "names" and more about getting the right mix on the panel and getting "bargains". |

This isn't actually true. The Voice are going to rotate judges on a regular basis to allow the artists to concentrate on their music when they need to. Shakira and Usher will return and I believe they will be introducing at least a further 2, over future series, to enable all judges to be rotated in and out when they need/want to be.
