I don't know what the background to this story is, but I share your distaste for this man.I saw him once on a daytime TV show and he was constantly groping this woman who was very cleary uncomfortable with his behaviour , but he just treated it as a joke .

Thrilled he's gone. Couldn't stand him. But I'm not interested in betting so if the new production company plan to reduce the emphasis on betting and increase the focus on personalities and background - people and horses - that'll suit me just fine.
I did like the Highflyer team, though, and will miss some of the faces - many of the backroom people had been with Highflyer since it started producing racing coverage for C4 so thanks and best wishes for the future to Andrew Franklin and his team. ![]() But I do like Clare Balding and her racing pedigree is well up there with the best. |

He will get laughed out of Court I hope! If he was half the 'pundit' he's supposed to be then he could win his £3 million by gambling on the horses |

Unbelievable! Lots of broadcasters don't have their contracts renewed, and there doesn't have to be any reason. It's the nature of the business and you just have to accept it and move on. As for the amount he's claiming... well, as I said, unbelievable!

Truth be told he didn't actually have that big a role on C4 Racing anyway. Giving out the odds and stuff in the betting ring was about the extent of his contribution. His screen time probably amounted to about 3 minutes in a 2 hour programme, hardly a big loss in the grand scheme of things and they have others that can perform that role just as effectively like Tanya Stephenson.
His bigger role really was on The Morning Line, but he didn't exactly help himself through his appearances on that. I remember when they had the jockey Luke Morris on back in the summer, a jolly nice bloke by all accounts, he berated him for tipping something in another race as opposed to a well fancied horse that he himself was booked to ride ! It was very awkward. Being rude to guests probably didn't help his chances of his contract being renewed. |

Seeking £3 million for loss of future earnings.
![]() If his contract is up with Highflyer, his contract is up. It is up to the new company IMG to select who they want to be on their programme. As a previous fm has said, 3 minutes on the tv with betting news, and not very entertaining betting news at that, is a waste of resources and finances. At least over at the BBC John Parrott and Gary Wiltshire were fairly entertaining. Of you go McCririck, if this ever gets to court they should laugh him out of it, 'saddling' him with the court costs too. |

If his contract had ended he doesn't have a case. If his contract was terminated (as he claims) then he does have a case and ageism is indeed an offence.

This could be the last desperate attempt at self-agrandisement by a nonentity. I doubt if his claim will be taken seriously.
If ever there was a person who was a complete turn-off on TV the moment you saw him. It was that fool. |

I used to think it was just his act, and that he was probably all right really, but then one day I was at Cheltenham and he was ranting and raving at some poor member of the crew with a clip board and changed my opinion of him

I think Channel 4 maybe think they are now serious presenters, and don't need the comedy turn.
i struggle to see why they need Clare Balding, Jim McGrath and Rishi Persad, tbh. Have they dropped the mighty Francome. I can't see him in the list. Alistair Down and Mike Catermole will also be missed, It looks like BBC have just moved across and took over. McCririck probably isn't the only one upset. |

yes, i 've been checking into a bit more, and edited my post slightly. i see Alastair and Mike Cattermole are both out. I don't think McGrath is an improvement, tbh, competent though he is. It's all a bit BBC Corporate for me, which was never the appeal of Ch4.

He got really angry with on the JV show today.
Funnily enough, he is spouting the same lines that he used to slag others off for using. It's a different story now the boot is on the other foot. As a caller mentioned. John used to say "the 'old' women presenters should be replaced with younger 'totty." ![]() I bet he regrets that line now. |

I'm not particularly a fan of McCririck, but if as he claims he was told last May "we need a younger John McCririck", then he does have a good case for suing under the Age Discrimination legislation, for which there is no upper limit on damages that can be awarded.
My bet is that C4 settle out of court for an undisclosed sum, probably in the region of £1 - £1.5 million. |
