John McCririck To Sue Channel 4
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20959200
_______________ I haven't seen him around on TV for sometime. Maybe if he was nice to women Channel 4 might have kept him on.

On celeb BB I remember him telling Brigitte that she should grow a fringe to hide her forehead wrinkles. At the same time he was openly flaunting his beer gut.
My mum is 65 and she is being forced to retire, even though she loves her job and is very good at it. John is 72, so he's been lucky. He plans to donate 2.5 million of the 3 million to charity...still leaves him with a tidy sum

Well not that I've ever watched him in any racing shows as it doesn't interest me but other stuff I've seen John on CBB, wife swap etc he's always come across as a thoroughly obnoxious, bombastic and unpleasant man! I don't know the details of how he was let go but imo he's lucky have lasted as long as he did on tv!

What on earth makes him think he can demand a contract?
![]() In this economic climate its all short term contracts and there is no such thing nowadays as a job for life.

Apparently he feels publicly humiliated. Coming from a man that picks his nose and goes on tv in nothing but his underwear thats a laugh.

He only ever did any of that stuff on CBB and Wife Swap though, As a contributor to Channel Four Racing he has always been a lot more interesting and entertaining (he's a lot more intelligent than he lets on in his "showbiz" appearances).

He has got a cheek, how he and a few more on the show has lasted so long is shocking, I watch some of the show despite him, once he and a few others have gone i may enjoy watching the full show without feeling the need to tune in only when certain races begin.
he will not be the last to get the boot from the show so his argument for ageism is just his arrogant attitude showing through again, it;s not down to age it's down to being boring and IMO spoiling the show. I wouldn't mind if he just acted normal and put his points across without trying to steal the limelight for as much exposure as possible then i would have no problem with him. |

Why is he suing Channel 4, He was employed by 3 on productions, he was rehired by Highflyer when they took up the contract. When IMG took over they decided on a new team. He has No case against anyone let alone channel 4.

Has he ever publicly supported the women who are deemed too old to be seen on TV? If he'd made a fuss about ageism on TV any time it had hit the news before they might have been slightly wary about letting him go. This is like an extra-lite version of that 'First they came for' statement

Nothing to do with age! He is repulsive to look at. Some men in therr 80s and 90s are very dapper and well groomed!
This arrogant fool looks like Sherlock Holmes's great great grandfather! |

It's not his age, I don't think. He has made himself look a prat on TV one too many times, and I suspect his unpopularity with younger and more progressive viewers who might otherwise tune in has clinched it.
He had already been replaced for most of C4 Racing's coverage by Tanya Stevenson anyway. |

He's got a point. I have done contract work at c4 and it does seem to be female amd twentysomething.
I think there is ageism at c4 |

He just been on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2. He's sueing for 1.5 million and extra for hardship. It does seem he's doing this for money and not agesim.. I can see him walking away with probably a few grand, but lawyers fees must be costing him? He was shouting too on the radio with a women in the studio. I think he was got rid of, because of a fresher look. We never know what went on behind closed doors, as he does tend to come across as aggressive.

He's a horrid old sexist who calls his wife 'The Booby' and treats her like dirt.
Good riddance and I hope he gets £5 compensation, some decent underpants and a large hanky out of it. |

He can't say he wasn't aware C4 had put the racing contract out to tender as it was well publicised, so he had fair warning. £1.5m for what a years work plus 'hardship? Has he plucked these figures out of thin air? He'd be better off going down the bookies and placing bets on his tips. |
