Since talk of Jac seemed to be dominating the Big Holby thread somewhat I thought I'd start a new one so we don't drive those poor unfortunates that don't recognise that she is one of (if not the) most interesting characters the show has ever had insane with boredom or annoyance.

Although it is in the Appreciation sector, I don't think that everything has to be a love fest. All views are welcome and as she does often behave in a less than nice way, we shouldn't be afraid to call her on it and someone that doesn't like her may make us see things in a different light.

So, Joseph recollections and dreams for reconciliation - welcome.

Its been long over due for a iconic character such as Jac.

I know I didn't quite ship Jac and Joseph as much as Luc and Eddi (due to not watching their intertwining stories right from the begining) but I certainly believe Jac and Joseph were one of the very few very interesting and complex couples in Holby's history.

I think nearly everyone disliked jac during the lord byrne days even if they were still intrigued by her. It's amazing how they turned it around - during season 11 and 12 really. I do think her undending devotion to Joseph and the Kidney story swung it with Locked Away and What Goes Around being pivotal.

I love Jac and prefer her with Jonny. There I've said it. Think he's better for her than Joseph, too much emotional baggage in that relationship.

I can't remember where I saw it but someone suggested that Jac and Hanssen could be seen as a potential couple.I just cannot see this, it makes me want to go urrgh !

Jac has this kind of respect for Hanssen as a leader and kind of mentor (but not in the same way as Sahira) and he has this grudging mutual respect for her as highly respected cardiac surgeon.

Their relationship could be a great, complex, interesting one as long as it remains in a professional capacity. I've never seen an ounce of romantic spark between them ever so if Holby pushed them together like that then it'd be a massive failing I think. I don't actually want to see Hanssen with anyone because I think that'd ruin his loner(?) vibe somewhat.

I agree. I love jac and Hansenn scenes and think they have an interesting dynamic. For all he clearly favored Sahira over her and often cuts her down to size, it should be remembered that he was the one to finally recognise her surgical worth and give her a break as Consultant on Kellar. I though I think finances had some part of that, getting her cheaper than an experienced Consultant but still. Also she was the first person to ever get him to lose his temper when he banged his desk in frustration when she was being, well jac. Finally, he didn't have to tell her about his mum yesterday. I don't think there is anything remotely romantic or sexual in it though. I don't honestly see them taking it that way.

I am annoyed that Jac took the blame for Hanssen getting screwed over by the board - Cunningham forced her into it and they would not listen to her retraction. Serena was the one to blame, not Jac. I am getting sick of the way they treat her.

Hansenn was told that it was more than one person so he knows that Jac wasn't solely to blame. Hopefully he'll find the fulll extent of it out and respect her more for having had the courage to face him. Clearly her words about trying to right a mistake made resonated with him. Also, he didn't have to tell her about his mother. Whilst I see no romantic spark, I do think this will be the beginning of a closer bond between them.

I wasn't going to mention it on the main thread amidst all the Hansenn/Hemmingwway love as Jac was (rightly) an appendage to the story but I loved how similar her background and motivations were to them, almost like a bridge between the 2 men and stories,

She also changed her name to distance herself from a despised parent like Hansenn. She was also moved from pillar to post and has never really had anywhere to call home like Luc. She also seems to view Love as something that causes pain, anguish, hurt so avoids it both to protect herself and others like both of them. She also has never really got over a past love and carries guilt around at how the relationship ended like both of the, See where I'm going with this?

Only disappointment was the incredibly short scene with Jonny - they still haven't made it clear that they are back together properly - we haven't even seen them kiss or go for a drink since she dumped him in November which considering they about to torpedoe them again next week, might have been nice to establish.

Having seen the trailer for next week, I'm finding it really hard to see where Joseph is coming from. It's an incredibly cheesy wedding invite with sparkles and things falling out of the envelope. To just send that with no one to one message - as I've said before, I don't know what has got into him - he appears to have had an emotional or tact lobotomy.

I can honestly say that I am dreading the next 2 episodes more than any other Holby ever (the only thing that comes close was having to watch Joseph marry Faye)

To have him do something so crass and heartless will be very hard to watch.

Yes indeed. I'm looking forward to them as lots of Jac and hopefully nice Janny to start but also dreading them. It's funny, the Leddi fans say that they can now sleep and relax and not dread episodes - it's starting again for us.

I couldn't bring myself to watch Proceed with Caution for a while. I'm not particuarly looking forward to some of the season 10 repeats either as it was when they were at their most vitriloic, not funny sniping, just nasty and of course Faye simpering up to him the whole season.

I really feel for you guys, the Holby writers are just torturers.
Was it really necessary to mention Joseph at this stage ? Jac was doing fine for two years. The plotlines could have carried on as it is, hope you get my drift here.

Haha, thanks Maria I do kind of overuse moron/moronic sometimes, but I think it's justified in this case! I'm thinking back to how Jac/Joseph ended and then looking at that stupid invitation and just going I just can't understand why he'd let her find out like that. Surely a phone call or letter beforehand wouldn't be so hard to do? Just something to soften the blow!

I have to agree - moronic is exactly the right word.
It is incredibly tacky - I don't see how his mother or sister can have been involved. They may have had their faults but they oozed class which that invite definatley isn't.

I now wait for someone to say they liked it or they had similar etc.

Joseph is a man. It reminds me of a scene in H/H episode of what Maja said to Hanssen at the lake, for a man as intelligent as Hanssen, he can be incredibly stupid.
And Elliot saying hold your head up high at the wedding, thats another plonker.
Agree there should have been some kind of warning before the invitation.

I don't get where Elliot is coming from either? How does Joseph sending her a +1 make it okay and enable her to hold her head high. She isn't necessarily seeing anyone (so that would just rub it in more, I'm getting married and you don't even have anyone to bring) and even if she is it doesn't mean she is over Joseph and his moving on to the extent of marriage won't hurt like hell. At least with Faye he had the decency to tell her face to face that he thought it was best she not come to the wedding.

The only excuse I can think of is if perhaps there has minimal contact between them, perhaps the odd email and she has either told him about Jonny or lied that she was better than she is and the invite with +1 is his way of saying that he is pleased for her to move on and not to feel bad as he has too. Or Elliot has told him about Jonny which I wouldn't put past him. It is the only kind explanation I can come up with.

I'll have to check if it is a man or a woman writing the next 2 weeks as all the men appear to be plonkers. Joseph and Elliot we've covered. Jonny telling her to get over it is unusually insensitive and crass for him - though, tbf, he's probably hurt and jealous that the woman he clearly wants to be with that has been making it so hard for them to have a fully fledged relationship is so hung up on her ex from years ago. Finally, if our suspicions are correct, Sean seizing the chance when Jac is clearly going to be drunk and upset, especially as there is a Vanessa Dolan in in the cast list for 22nd so I've a horrible feeling he's going to turn out to be married.

I don't understand Elliot either and does he assume that Jac will attend? surely Elliot knows the score with Joseph and Jac as he is the closest to have worked with them and see them at their lowest stage in their lives, from what I can remember. Your explanation is quite plausible. If I was Jac, I would never attend that wedding.
