True enough about WR, it can't hold a candle to Holby imo.

I also agree that Adam has been fantastic at times in the Lucy murder sl but also a little OTT at times, but overall I do think his performance deserves some recognition.

I really don't know why the likes of Holby and Casualty don't do better at these awards and Rosie in particular because I do believe that she is widely accepted as being an outstanding actress.

I did watch WR when it was first on and seem to remember really liking it, but after the first few series it just seemed to go a bit silly with lots of far-fetched storylines that were really removed from the reality of any comprehensive I'd ever known that I just couldn't watch it anymore. Recently started to read clover's reviews which were fabulous, and from the little bits I've seen of the last series much better than the actual show.

I (obviously) agree about Rosie - it's such a shame that she (and the show) don't get more recognition. Although would imagine she'll be the actress from Holby that gets long-listed again next year (as the only competition I can see would be Catherine who hasn't had, so far, as much exposure) so we'll just have to ('illegally') vote for her more than once from all our devices then and see if we can't get her on to the shortlist that way...

I think WR has a younger audience demographic (perhaps obviously due to it being a glorified Grange Hill) and younger people tend to have access to the internet and care enough to vote - qed WR does better than things like Casualty and EE at public voted awards. Brett also has a higher profile because of EE.

I agree HC falls between 2 stools - it doesn't get the publicity of the big soaps in terms of magazine coverage but because it is on every week it is overlooked by the critics - plus of corse it doesn't have the budget of 6 weeks episode dramas.

Woodyatt always gets overlooked and it winds me up as I think he's an incredibly good actor.

James was engaged but split up with her after gina's death when he got addicted to drugs. It's possible they reconciled and it just wasn't mentioned. I can never identify the photos either except for Sam and Sandy Harper.

there's a brief interview with Rosie in What's On TV which says Hac is very concerned about Elliot, she views him as a father figure but we shouldnever forget what Jac is and that will sacrifice anybody for her career - even Elliot.

I meant to say WR does better than Casualty and HC not EE. EE always does well at public voted stuff.

Uh oh - don't like the sound of that (and yet again Rosie seems to be very unforgiving of Jac)

Oh yes, Sandy is there isn't she - I love the fact that the bench at the front of the hospital (does that part count as the LCMG?) is dedicated to Laura = such a lovely touch!!

Also, was wondering very recently (since that helicopter crash actually) re. the budgets - do you think Casualty's would be more because of the set piece 'stunts' they have to have each week (car crashes, roofs collapsing etc) and all the off set filming they do? Or would they (HC and Cas) be about the same, because I can imagine all those prosthetics they use in Holby costing a fortune to make?

I'm fairly sure that Casualty's will be higher due to the large stunt and location filming and of course they use prosthetics as well although if course they have a lower episode count so it might be the same anually but more per episode.

Jonny is going to move without a job in place and do poorly paid, intermittent shift work? What a fabulous way to look after a baby - and he kept cheeking Jac about not being there for Emma. Also, no mention of Emma not getting to see Jac or vice versa or trying to get her back in Emma's life. And all Mo cares about is Tuesday night pub crawl. Ugh!

Don't know - haven't had a chance to check yet. It is good though. The spoiler is also worded worryingly. Something along the lines of a Herzig patient accusing Elliot of negligence and Jac stepping in to defend him but is it too little, too late. I don't know if that means 'too little, too late' to stop an enquiry or that Jav finally helps Elliot after having taken his job (it also mentions Elliot being worried about his future in the department) but she's hardly spent weeks undermining him has she?

And thought it was a bit weird that, after our conversation about the Darwin photo boards they appeared in tonight's episode, and once again I was distracted from what was actually going on trying to see who was on them (think I might have spotted Chantelle tonight)

Little weird seeing as Chantelle never worked on Darwin but I supposed they could have photos of staff from other wards from nights out.

Did this this morning and yes it is - although when i saw the photo on IMDB didn't think it was but then realised that I'd been getting him confused with Martha's Ben.

http://www.radiotimes.com/episode/cy...41-a-heart-man

Think that 'too little, too late' spoiler is puzzling too - as you said it's not as though Jac's been around for ages dropping poison in people's ears is it? And from my reading of the RT spoilers looks like she goes in to bat for him straight away when the problem arises. Wondering if it's spoiler shorthand again?

But at least it does seem as if
Spoiler

Am looking forward to it though (despite worries about Elliot) because the writing should be good - the last episode Rebecca W wrote was the one where Emma was born and I loved that. Also, I think that indicates the importance they've placed on it as an episode - wonder if this is their 3/4 series peak (just a little late).

Watched this scene again (slow-mo and pause!) and am 99% positive it is Chantelle and Mo (with possibly Malick) although think it's actually Lauren, Chizzy and ?Jimmy on a night out (think they might even have posted the photo on Twitter because it looked familiar, but that could quite easily be my memory playing tricks on me!!)
Also, am fairly sure that (a copy of) the wedding picture that was on Elliot's bookcase was pinned (unframed) on the notice board behind Mo's head at the start of that scene (it's the one near the end of the episode where Jonny tells Mo he's not moving after all) or if it's not the same one it's remarkably similar!! Didn't spot that the first time round but on re-watching was obviously tuned in to looking for photos (can see I'm going to be doing that all the time now, like my clock/time obsession!!)

Interesting that James is coming back, would like to see Martha too!!

The photos intrigue me, as usual last night the only one I was sure of was Sam, as it's big and clear. Surely Connie, Joseph and the Valentines should be there too.

Jonny acted much as I expected him to last night so he didn't annoy me as much as he seems to have annoyed you, kitkat!! Mo did slightly annoy me but I enjoyed seeing them have fun together and Jonny seemed almost his old self again, which was a huge relief.

I AM worried that that will all go out the window when Jac returns though. I fear she will come back in Ice Queen mode and get everyone's backs up again. The Elliot situation could go badly for her too plus if she does get involved with Selfie that won't go down well either.

So for me there was some relief at last night's episode but I do have some trepidation for what lies ahead.

Agree that it was lovely to have a bit of lightness on Darwin once more and it was brilliant to see the return of pre-alien abduction Jonny!! But I'm also worried that it won't last that long, not necessarily because of Jac's return but because of what's happening with Elliot which will presumably put a downer on things.
Re. Jac from what I've seen and read of the next couple of weeks doesn't seem like people will have too many reasons to complain about what she's done so far
Spoiler

Agree that if she gets involved with Self it'll cause some friction/bad feeling but still think that it's only when Elliot comes back that there'll be any real open signs of discontent. And am not looking forward to seeing Jac in full on career-focussed mode again (thereby seemingly wiping out all the character development we've had over the past year or so) and am just hoping that at some point they will let her maternal side come to the fore again. Was wondering if they'll have Emma having some kind of health problem to bring those feelings out again, and do still have a tiny sliver of hope that she'll want a Christmas tree this year - after all Jonny's got almost 6 months to work on keeping his promise!!!

I wonder what reason they'll give to explain Martha's absence??

I'm looking forward to seeing Jac come back and "saving the day" so to speak!! It will be a bit like the time Connie came back when the place was in total melt down and stepped in brilliantly!!

I don't think they could hold that against Jac (they would be very petty if they did). I think as you have said the real danger will lie when Elliot wants to come back as CL and Jac may be reluctant to step down for him!

I am hoping that even with Jac in full out career-focused mode that Rosie will do her usual brilliant job of allowing a little look here and there that shows us that she misses Emma and has not fully given up on being her mum. That HAS to be the end game, surely. I think TPTB have decided that Jac needs to go back to her old ways for now but I would be shocked if they did not have in mind to reunite Jac and Emma whenever Rosie decides to leave (and I can't help feeling that she will only stay another year or two at most).

Really hope it happens (at least to some extent) before then - as I said I'm hoping for a good old proper Holby Christmas miracle!!

Agree about Rosie's performance though. I'm sure she'll take all her allowed (and possibly more) leave if she gets pregnant, and she possibly might leave the show at that point. Depending on what they've got planned for her/the way they take her character can also see her staying on for a lot longer though (given how positive she was about Jac in that 'This Morning' interview recently). I also wonder if (because she is so good) she might be someone who tPtB might allow to become a more background character (so she can have more time at home/do other things) whilst still keeping her as a core member of the cast (a bit like Ric seems to be now). Am sure they could find a way to write it in to the cast - she goes part-time at Holby to take up a very prestigious (part-time) position in something researchy/another hospital/university or even to spend more time with Emma. Was never really clear if Chrissy came back part-time after Daniel, didn't seem to have but would be surprised if (especially given her history with Amanda) she hadn't cut down her hours at least slightly. And it's not even as if p/t work would be that hard to explain - the person concerned could just have a shift pattern that always involved them working on a Tuesday, so they wouldn't even need to reduce the amount of time they were featured on the show for!!

And this only occurred to me this morning but do think it's funny that Mo and Jonny kept talking about Tuesday night pints on a` Wednesday!!

Some slightly different info on the 22/7 episode from the Holby website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04bn4v1

Complications !!

And I do hope Jac is being genuine not clever (although from the synopsis on the previous page seems like it's Guy Elliot's bothered about: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006...guide#b03dvtmp

Oh dear, poor Elliot. I'm pretty sure he will make it though in one piece though. Then we will have the drama of him being side-lined for Jac

I am all for Jac getting the career advancement that she deserves but would be bitter sweet if it was at Elliot's expense. I hope she is coming from a genuine place on this. She may be totally career focused on her return as a protection from missing Emma n her life and if that is the case then loyalty to Elliot may go out the window

And I really really hate the idea of her getting together with Selfie. Please let it be anyone but him!!

Actually, in this instance, I can see Jac being genuine in trying to help Elliot and, unintentionally, perhaps making things worse (because it is a question in the spoilers).
However, can also see her getting a lot more Machiavellian further down the line , also share your sentiments on the Selfie situation, but can't really think of who else it can be (now that Raf [who was always a wild card but could possibly have been] is seemingly out of the running)

Yes, I too think that she will be genuinely trying to help Elliot, at least initially. Once she gets the bit between her teeth it may be a different story, though!!

According to one of those 2 week Soap magazines (?Soaplife) it looks like
Spoiler

Also, apparently Holby is moving to BBC2 for the duration of the Commonwealth games and there's no Casualty at all.
