There are some more spoilers for next week on HTV which state Fran reveals her true identity and the terrible childhood secret she shares with Jac.

So I really do think abuse in a Care home they were both at.

As an aside - Emma is isted in the credits (in the recurring bit) so we now have a name for the actress - i wonder if they've got the same little girl back as they had in the Sprint because she was adorable. She's also listed as Naylor-Maconie. Wonder when that changed as she was most definitely just Naylor to start with. I guess it would make sense for Jonny to have changed it when he had sole custody (much easier if you have the same surname as your child I think if it is possible) as Jac would have been unlikely to object at that stage. Or when they got back together and started properly co-parenting.

Or the person that does the credits has just assumed that is her name due to her parentage.

The thing is it is kind of in character for Joseph. He seems to be much more settled when he has a steady woman in his life. Even if he is making do and because he is a traditional soul (and certainly wouldn't dream of kids out of wedlock) he has to marry them. This got worse after Harry was born. Look how many times he halted the divorce and spent time with Faye, even though he was back with Jac. Even in Snow Queens, he seems shocked and upset when Faye says she and Harry won't live him as it won't work as they are not in love and he answers that they both love Harry. What was he intending, live with Faye for the babys sake with jac on the side for years? All reason seemed to leave the building because he was terrified of losing Harry (when I'm sure he'd have had a good custody / access case anyway). Now he is probably making so again to a certain extent because he wants Harry to have a mum and probably more kids and has given up on the hope of Jac fulfilling that role. If I were Jac, I'd even be wondering if he'd only proposed (kind of) 2 years ago because he wanted a mummy bear rather than her being 'the one'.

I honestly don't know why they feel the need to do this unless it is to force people to start shipping Janny (which I think most people were coming round to anyway. Even the die hard jac / Joseph shippers don't hate jonny or the relatonship judging from what I see online) or jac is going to screw up so badly that they thought there had to be a good trigger so she'd retain sympathy and it's all they could think of. It's such a waste, especially after going to the trouble of finally having the declaration of love as he left which as Roberts said at the time, was what viewers had wanted to see as culmination to this long running storyline. The answer one way or the other as to whether they were in love , were soul mates and did belong together even if they didn't end up so.

Couldn't they have killed her mum or grandad off if they wanted to give her a shock. Or had someone from foster care turn up to send her off the rails?

Maybe joseph has knocked this one up as well. He doesn''t seem to have mastered birth control with faye's 2 scares and his being convinced Jac was in 09 even though she kept telling him she wasn't.
Just started rereading this thread, thought it might be interesting with 3 years hindsight.

And what do i find on the second page, me suggesting that if they want to rock Jac's world and shock her into action, they should kill her Mum or bring in somebody she knew whilst in Care. And they've done both since!

It struck me that I haven't posted on here in ages and then it struck me that Jac has been a bit of a non-character since her return.

Is that to accommodate Rosie now being a mum and wanting more time off? Or are they doing with her what they did with Elliot and Ric, making them less and less important??

I don't much like either option, tbh.

I would love a big Jac storyline, although I fear it would involve either making her a complete bitch again or else heaping loads of misery on her. They don't seem to know what else to do with her!!

They used her a ot in the weeks straight after her return, surprisingly well but it has been very quiet since then, which is now 4 months.

I don't know really, she may well have requested a lighter schedule or perhaps they are concerned that she is going to choose to leave for good (i do think that is a real possibility should Rosie fall pregnant again, 2 yooung children is. Much harder to juggle work around) so don't want to be as 'reliant' on her so are trying to build up other characters so she wouldn't be as missed as much?

As I said, I was pleasantly surprised by her return storyline and that she wasn't being written as a bitter beatch as I thought she was going to be given the pre return interviews and has basically been okay in what we've seen of her so I'm thankful for that. But I would like to see more of her and suspect misery is the only way we'll get it.

Also, I know this is a hobbyhorse of mine and the reason is the actor left and some on here had gone off the relationship anyway but...i still don't really see (and wish they hadn't) split Jac and Jonny up off screen and in such a callous fashion. they haven't (and again I'm thankful for this) thrown nre romantic interests or stories at her (and they must have storylined this 6 months at the time of her return) and haven't needed her to be horrible with the excuse of a dreadful personal life so why couldn't they have had them still be together off screen? They didn't need to be constantly mentioning him (anymore than they have anyway) and could have broken them up at any point with just a couple of lines (one episode a mention that they aren't getting on, the next that they've called it quits but are co-parenting amicably) if they did actually need her single for some reason. And i still say that any potential new relationship (or a Joseph return) would actually be more dramatically interesting if she did have a significant other that we the audience knew, even if they were no longer featured, as it would mean conflict re her feeling guilty.

Finally, if Rosie does fall pregnant again and they need to write her out relatively quickly, they have a ready made reason - Jac and Jonny have, without it being mentioned and why should it be as there is nobody she'd confide it on the Ward, been trying for a second baby all this time, she's now having one so actually taking maternity leave at the usual time. Easy.

Sorry, my little rant again but it does still bug me how they handled the breakup and i really fail to see why they needed to do it given how her storylines have panned out in the last 6 months.

Realise I haven't posted on here in ages or the Holby thread either but have to agree about the Jonny thing - does seem like they split them up just for the sake of it (although I'm not sure what the 'it' is) and quite agree about how it wouldn't have seemed to make any difference if they'd been together off-screen given how they've used her since she came back.
