She has a scan or an appointment to discuss something that came up in the scan, possible complications but doesn't turn up because she is busy with the patient. Jonny reads this as lack of commitment but actualy it is because she is scared and in denial land again.

Ah 'denial land' - I know it well

I think she definitely does the opposite - it is like the defence mechanism is so ingrained, she is so determind not to give anybody any insight into her psyche (therefore giving them power to hurt her) that she will take any manner of other abuse to prevent it. It is interesting that the few times she has ever talked about it, it has been very matter of fact and you get the impression that the other person engaged in the conversation already knows the basic story like her casually mentioning being in foster homes to Lord Byrne in 'Paranoid Android' and the argument with Joseph in 'Bad Reputation' and when her mother came back in 'Bette Davis Eyes'. Now of course it makes sense that she would have had to have told Joseph when they were dating and he would have passed the pertinent facts onto his Mum and Dad if only to avoid the awkward 'and what do your parents do Jacqueline, where are they today' conversation when she spent Christmas with them but it would be nice to see her explain it properly for the first time to someone. All that has come close was Michael and Sacha in 2010.

One time I was screaming at the tele for Jac to say something about her motives was soon after Sahira turned up and Elliot reprimanded her for proceeding with a risky operation behind his back. He asked her why she did it and nearly crying she just replied 'you know why'. Now maybe I was reading too much into it but I thought that meant that so soon after Joseph leaving and her putting all her eggs into one basket, she couldn't afford to lose her career as well as the life he had offered and I just wanted her to make sure that Elliot got that. That it was all she now had.”

I do wonder if we'll see something about this (BIB) now she's pregnant (possibly with Jonny) because can't see how she'll be able to avoid confronting at least some of her long buried issues now. Also, am not really sure how much Jonny knows about her past - sometimes he seems to have at least an inkling of how things were for her (like at Christmas) and other times he seems totally clueless (with Eve/Lou). So can really see him (because of the type of person he is - annoyingly persistent with a really good heart) just keeping on knocking till she lets him in when he realises there is something there underlying/powering how she is (and, I'm guessing, will be during the pregnancy).

I think Jonny must know that she doesn't have family as she $ade it so obvious that she always works Christmas and has nowhere to go but perhaps not the background to it. Perhaps she doesn't know that she was brought up in care (her parents could have died / left later than that) although she did make that comment about dealing with worse than that when she was the teenage girls age but again, she could have been referring to something else.

Perhaps Jonny has never pressed her on this because he doesn't want to talk about his own background but of course, you'd think families wouldve to come up during the pregnancy - you'd think Granny Maconie would want to meet the mother of her great grandchild and that Jonny would want them to meet her.

Ahh Granny Maconie - reckon she might be a force to be reckoned with!!! Would love it if she was featured - and you're right, it definitely would make sense for her to be.

Indeed. The way Jonny said "my parents aren't around" implicated that his parents are dead, rather than him not just having contact with them.

Yes, that's what I took him to mean too, but it's slightly ambiguous so I suppose it does leave them room for some sort of a twist!!
kitkat1971

It definately leaves room for twist but given that he has mentioned them in fond terms from when he was a child I'd guess that they died when he was a teenager or young adult and he was brought up by Granny or perhaps one of his Aunts. He certainly doesn't give the appearance of having had a nasy, unloving upbringing but perhaps a sad one which would fit with parents dying but still have a large extended family.

That's certainly what that Professor thought - something about him seeking approval because of an unhappy childhood and him now acting like the class clown

I absolutely loved Jac, Jonny and Mo tonight. They were finally behaving in a kind of way that I'd like them to always behave. There didn't seem to be too much sniping between Jac and Mo. I really want those two to be friends, they don't need to be best friends and bosom buddies, but mates...

Jac not being able to stand the smell of coffee was just hilarious.

I think Jac, Jonny and Mo work very well together and its enjoyable to watch these scenes. I didn't see any great chemistry between Jac, Sahira and Greg tbh when they worked together.
Jac's pregnancy eating habits are too funny. I felt so sorry for the out of touch with women Elliot being cornered by JacJonnyMo gang, he seemed like a middle aged version of Luc when it comes to dating women. It was a delight to watch.

Someone on Twitter suggested a spin off called JacMac&Mo (which was Chizzy's # earlier today) where the three of them helped singletons to get dates.

Welll I've never liked coffee, since I was a teenager, if it is coffee or nothing I say nothing) though a tea junkie, even the smell can turn me queasy. I hate to think what I'd be like pregnant. Perhaps bacob and lightly toasting bread would make me sick.

I'm also not a fan of coffee - I know some people who don't like the taste but do like the smell - but that's not me either. I am on the other hand a proper little teapot!!

Think my sister said that your sense of smell gets much more acute for some reason when you're pregnant (well she reckoned hers did anyway) so I expect any strong smell might be slightly off-putting. Not sure about bacon though - can't imagine that ever being a smell that'd make me nauseous but who knows.

I am glad they haven't gone too far down the usual morning sickness road with Jac though - there were some mentions of it yesterday but it doesn't seem like they're pushing the clichés (apart from the 'eating for (10)2' thing - which I'm willing to forgive them for because it's so funny!!) too much with her. Long may it continue.
Although was surprised how open they were being about the pregnancy - when Jonny mentioned the toilet bowl and Mo made her 'Rosemary's baby' comment (which I hope Jac doesn't take the wrong way!) am sure there was another nurse hanging around on the periphery (will have to re-watch to be sure though)

My sense of smell went overboard during my pregnacies. On my first one I was on a plane during the very early stages (hadn't even done the test yet!) and a man across the aisle from me had a glass of red wine and the smell of it was so strong that it turned my stomach. Alarm bells went off in my head and I did the test as soon as I got home and hey presto, there was the blue line...

I love coffee especially the ones from Starbucks. Always have my favourite which is white cafe mocha. I could easily spend £15 per week on Starbucks alone.. so during june I went for two weeks not going and having a coffee/latte from work! Although I do occasionally have a cup of tea.. what tea do u have? (Slightly going off subject)..x

Just bog standard normal tea I'm afraid (nothing fancy for me!!!) Do normally try and buy fair trade though (although at the moment am finishing off some Tetley's and will then be moving on to some PG Tips that my sister bought me - inside a commemorative tin, so not just a very cheap present!!)

And I'm really not into herbal teas (or infusions as my mum insists on calling them because 'they're not really tea'!!!) They always smell so much better than they taste to me, so I always find them majorly disappointing.

I do wonder what that smell thing is all about. Must be some kind of evolutionary basis for it - maybe to stop all the cave women eating things that were on the turn/going off??? And I suppose now it serves a similar purpose - putting women off eating/drinking things that aren't particularly good for the baby - coffee, wine, and I know my sister couldn't stand the smell of anything fried.

I would expect the smell thing is also to do with hormones going all weird during pregnancy.

Speaking of other nurses... wasn't it quite hilarious when Elliot and Sharon went into the locker room and you had those two extras there snogging?

I have twinings full breakfast tea which my sister likes. We have also have a few flavoured green tea drinks. Being chinese we also drink chinese tea (dried leaf, hot water).

It surely was - wonder if they get paid more for that??? I really like Sharon now and it's about time Elliot had a bit of romance in his life. And good old Jac playing Cupid yet again!!

Very funny how Elliot didn't even react - he nearly had Greg formerly disciplined for being with Marie-Claire in a side room and they were doing much less from memory.

I'm a fair trade standard tea bag girl myself although my partnets have Twinings in for guests and I keep a stock of decaf Earl Gray for my Mum.

I agree that herbals always smell nicer than they taste - I"d rather have a glass of Ribena or Lemon squash.

I'd imagine he had other things on his mind!!

Also, just occurred to me that Jac isn't the only person who is de-ageing over time. Madonna is 54 but Elliot said in that Christmas episode where he was contemplating suicide (and I only know this because I randomly watched it this week) that he was 53 and that was in 2007. However, he then had a 50th birthday party in 2009, so his age now does fit with that and also matches with Madonna's. (Not that I mind this - its just weird that I know this - such a coincidence that I watched that ep in the same week his age was mentioned!!)

I drink decaf 'normal' tea too (at the moment they're PG Tips) after about 7.30pm. You can tell the difference (although they've definitely improved over time) but it does mean I get a better night's sleep.
I quite like the reduced sugar Ribena - find the normal stuff too sweet, and am also quite partial to a glass of Robinson's orange barley water.

Yeah, Madonna's going to be 55 this August. (Why I remember her birthday is in August despite never having been a hardcore fan is anyone's guess.)

I drink almost any kind of tea with Twinings' Lady Grey being my favourite. Christmas flavoured ones and lemon tea also goes down well with me.
