Also on a completely different but Jac-related point...in an effort (so fair v. successful) to avoid my IRAS form I have been watching random old episodes of Holby ('Elliot's Wonderful Life' being one of them). Also saw the one, completely by chance (it was a you tube 'suggestion') where Michael (who must have not long arrived) mentions that he has heard of Jac before because he treated her dad in London. Now whilst she disagreed with this he did seem pretty definite about it:
"Well unless there's another Dr Jac Naylor working at Holby City. He's very proud of you"
And I was wondering if this was something they were going to do something with (but then, for whatever reason didn't) as otherwise it seems like a really odd detail to include.

I think Jonnie will p.ss me off in this particular storyline. If Jac misses a scan because she is preoccupied with a client, how the hell does that translate into her not being totally dedicated to the baby/pregnancy!! She works in a hospital ffs, she can arrange a scan any time.

Jonnie can be annoying at times imo.

I suppose there has to be some kind of conflict in this storyline, after all it is Holby AND of course even more pertinently JAC and Jonny, so we can't expect it to be all sweetness and light . I'm with you sohvimus though - just hope it doesn't cause a major argument (although I suppose it's possible it might get them talking about things - maybe!!)

The issue of Michael mentioning Jac's fsather has come up before and it was odd as she seemed geninely confused / bewildered by it and also she inferred to Donna that she was an. Orphan around the same time.

3 possibilities
Her biological father has been keeping tabs on her but she is unaware of this
It was a foster parent who perhaps cared more than she realised
They intended to follow it up but then changed their mind and assumed we'd have foorgotten about it though,to be fair, they never have told us what is supposed to have happened to her real dad, just that he obviously wasn't an option to look after her when Paula disappeared and from what jac described, it doesn't sound like he'd been around prior to that either.
So, either paula never told him about being pregnant, or he didn't want to know, or they split when jac was still very young or he died. Or perhaps , he is another one that Paula said had died but actually hadn't - hence him following her career without her knowledge with him believing thay she doesn't want him involved with her - paula could have told him anything.

Yep, in the same episode. Does seem like such a strange detail to include and I suppose any of your ideas are possible (or alternatively Michael was mistaken - but he did seem so very definite)........
Another mystery that will probably never be solved!!!

Paula really could have told Jac her father was dead and/or didn't want to know and Jac would have believed it, not realising what a conniving liar her mother was at the time.

It would be interesting to see this followed up. Likewise her half sister - Jasmine?? - it would be great to see her again.

Given how easily she lied about her own father being dead, I'm sure that Paula won't have told the truth about Jac's dad. Also, given how feminist she was, I can imagine she'd be the type (especially in that era, early 70s) to have just used him as a sperm donor and decided that she didn't want any man involved and he had no rights at all, unless perhaps she needed money. From what Jac said, that was the only time they visited her Grandad.

I do think the likeliest explanation is that her biological father has been keeping tabs on her but believes that she doesn't want to know him (wouldn't put it past Paula to have destroyed any birthday cards, letters etc) or it is a foster father as we know she did have some - she wasn't in a childrens home the whole time.

You would think that after discovering what a liar Paula was though, re her Grandad and the sister, Jac might wonder how much of the truth she has been told about her father and investigate but maybe, as with Jasmine, she just feels it is too late.

I'm really glad they are readdressing the Surrogacy as I always thought they skipped over it too quickly though I do choose to believe that a reaction to it is the reason that Mo was a bit of a moo cow towards the end of last year - especially with Jac. Perhaps a subconscious resentment that Jonny wasn't able to spend as much time and care with her as she needed him most as she was getting over her loss because he was always preoccupied with Jac?

Yes, and I'm sure that Jac's pregnancy will be hard for her to watch as Jac will get to keep her baby at the end of it and have the support of the baby's father, even if they are not together romantically.

And given the fact that the baby's dad is Mo's best friend, it will be hard for her to see him being the devoted dad as she may well feel left out.

I've only now got around to update my cultural knowledge regarding "Rosemary's Baby". And had a laugh. Now we know that Mo heard Jac and Jonny's argument outside the theatres all those months ago.

She might not have, could just be making the jibe anyway. Though oif course, Rosemarys Babys evil DNA was on the paternal side so what is Mo saying about her best friend?

BtW, my mum saw Rosemarys Baby when she was pregnant (not with me) and it terrified her!!!

^^^, That is one scary movie. I need to watch it with about 10 people, preferably holding on to someone in the room and with all the lights on in the house. The music was terrifying.

Well, Mo did come out of the door very quickly soon after the slap, which did follow the antichrist comment, so I am fairly sure she was eavesdropping behind the door. She must have been interested to know what was going on after the tension in theatre and Jac ordering Jonny to go out with her.

I've never seen 'Rosemary's Baby' or any of those other classics (The Exorcist etc) as I really can't stand supernatural horrors. Is weird because I will quite happily watch things which are realistically terrifying (e.g. Luther, The Fall) - guess I just don't like the added creepiness the supernatural element brings. I'm not convinced Mo heard the 'slap-gate' argument - I just though the 'Rosemary's baby' comment was her attempt at a joke (although do worry that/wonder if, even though she didn't appear to react, Jac might be taking all that on subconsciously.)

Ah wiggles, you're missing out - I love films like that. Didn't see the Exorcist until the rerelease in 98 but loved it and have the dvd. Oddly, I found the early sections where they are looking for a medical reason for the little girl's malaise much more disturbing than the supernatural elements. I know that many people feel very strongly about it though - my FD in 98 who had seen it as a teenager was horrified when he discovered that I and another young girl were going to go in 98 - he actually used the word evil to describe it.

On balance think I'm happy enough missing out, maybe one day if I'm feeling particularly brave....

Also agree with everyone that Mo will find it hard to see Jac pregnant (think she's already showed this actually with Eve's fairy tale when she definitely hesitated when she said about the witch finding out she was going to have a baby). Think she'll be worried about 'losing' Jonny but also obviously it will bring back all those memories about her pregnancy and William.

Whilst I agree that it would be tactless to make such comments, it still have to be said that she was there on the doorway pretty much the second Jac's slap across Jonny's face had landed. Realistically she should've therefore heard at the very least what Jonny said.
