You often have many applicants, but who actually gets short-listed for a job interview is another thing.

I totally agree that it is completely against character for Harry (from what we've seen so far) to turn down the CT2 position on Darwin for the reasons as given. He was mad to get up there, he was a total fool to turn it down.
We are supposed to believe that he did it as he wants to be "host" to Gemma's "paracite". Well - UGH, on so many levels

They only ever seem to have 2 applicants on the interview day in HC (Sam and Joseph, Jac and Sahira, Harry and Ollie) which does seem a little strange. I can understand them cutting the shortlist down as much as possible but you'd think they'd see 3 or 4 - it wouldn't kill them to show a couple of extras waiting in the lobby to indicate that there were people from other departments of hospitals in the running

Also there is no way you would just be able to re-arrange the presentations at the drop of a hat. The people who appoint (senior) staff would not be the same people who ordinarily attend the M & M meetings, and would also not be the type of people who would be able to drop everything and change their plans (their diaries would probably be booked up weeks if not months in advance). And surely, even if everyone else was able by some miracle to attend the fact that there was no representation from Darwin (the ward the successful candidate would be working on) can't be a good thing. (Did wonder why Jac wasn't drafted in??) Also, note to Oli - reading out a word document (even if it is your own work, and not something you've plagiarised from your dead wife) is NOT a presentation (and never will be)!!! |

Was Elliot originally supposed to have been there? I heard Serena was a replacement for someone but didn't hear who. It did seem incredibly odd that there was no representation from Darwin, the people that would be working with them but maybe they felt that jac and Elliot would be biased on Oli having be there for so long but when has that ever stopped (Mark being on a 3 man tribunal involving his own daughter). I'm fairly sure that 6 or so would be a normal number of candidates to ensure a decent selection. At least with Sam and Joseph, it was implied they had already gone through interviews and this was a final 'working' test with the final 2 candidates in a 'working' test - joseph says to Sam 'you're the other shortlisted candidate aren't you'.

I don't know - historically ever since Darwin expanded when Connie got additional funding in season 8, there have always been 4 Doctors and 1 prominent Nurse (Elliot, Connie, Joseph and Sam, then Jac replaced Sam for a while, then Greg, then Sahira over from Joseph and Jac again for Connie plus Oliver, then Mo for Sahira and effectively Oliver for Greg and Tara for Oli) so actually they are going from 5 to 3. On the plus side though, it might mean that they concentrate on the people they have got there - Elliot has only really used as a buffer for the Tara and Oli romance and Mo hasn't really been used at all and maybe that will change.

I think you are worrying over nothing tbh. There is no reason why a single neurologist would spell the end of Darwin!
I'm quite looking forward to the new addition. I hope

Also, as I mentioned on the main board, there is a precedent for 4 wards running at the same time - darwin, kellar, otter and maternity in season 4 and I think some of 5.

That was the highlight of the episode for me, it was too funny. I like the midwife, she gives Jac a run for their money in the sarcasm stakes. This was a good episode.

She looked happy when the news was out - I think she secretly likes it when Jonny takes charge. I had to laugh at that guy in the scrubs trying to hug her and her not letting him and making a face. |

Re: spoiler.
I REALLY want that to happen, that mid wife should have a semi-regular slot on Holby, I like her. I also, agree that Jac is secretly happy about the baby coming and Jonny being enthusiastic. So, are we expecting a christmas Naylor junior or a new year one ? I forgot the time slot.

Assuming Tara is supposed to have died on the day it was transmitted (as we know she resigned on 2nd April - saw the date on the email) then baba was conceived on 16th April so it should be early January but I'd be amazed if they don't go for a Christmas episode birth.

I'd say that is very likely - it's bound not to go to Jac's plan which is probably in a lovely private hospital.

And, I disagree with Jac about the foetus, I am fairly sure he/she does her both Jac and Jonny. After all it has been proved that even newborn babies react to their mother's voice in a different way to a stranger's voice. |

She did smile when Sacha gave her a hug. Probably the one only person she'd allow to hug her after revelation of this kind.

One thing from a professional point of view though and that is that I would have thought that Jac would want to tell Hansenn and/or Serena face to face before it became common knowledge - they will need to discuss how long she intends to work, how much maternity leave she plans to take (very little probably knowing Jac) so they can arrange cover. |
