Bose to iPad lead

Hi all,

I am looking at getting an iPad. Before doing so I am looking at all of the extras I could/need to get.

I have one of these Bose Docking Stations.

Can anyone tell me how or what I need to connect the two together?

One of these :

Not cheap, but then neither is the Bose dock.

Lightning to 30-pin Adapter? Is that the one I need?

I assume the remote will still work through this?

We have the same BOSE and my OH has an ancient cd player which he plugs in to the BOSE with a double ended headphone lead. One lead goes into the cd player headphone socket and one into the back of the BOSE in the AUDIO IN socket.

If you have one of these leads hanging around you could try it before the expense of a dedicated cable.

This lead works fine with my sons Iphone5.

Weirdly, my Bose doesn't have a headphone socket. I will have to go for the Apple lead. The imitation ones have bad reviews on things like quality and life.

On a similar vein, I have an HTC One S. Is there a lead which can connect that to the Bose?

You would not connect the headphone out of the iPad to the headphone out of the docking station (if it had one). Well you could but it wouldn't make any noise!

You connect the headphone out of the iPad (or the phone for that matter) into the AUX IN on the back of the BOSE, if there is one. The BOSE website shows a docking station with AUX IN but not sure if it is the same model as yours.

Sorry, that's what I meant. There is nothing on the back of the unit except the power socket.

Must be a Sounddock 1 then? The Aux in was added to the Sounddock 2.

In which case you might need one of these for the phone (and would work with the iPad headphone socket as well)

I see one of the reviews specifically mentions using it with an original Sounddock.

That looks good, thanks a lot. Kills two birds, and all that...

One thing I was thinking though, is with regards to the iPad is there a difference in sound quality between music that comes out of the headphone and that that comes out of the lightning port?

After some thought, I am now considering going for a Nexus 10....! Lets face it, if I'm going to spend the money I want to be happy I made the correct choice....

So, if I was to get the N10, is there a cable, or adapter, to connect it to my Bose? I know I can still use the earphone jack, but I was wondering if I could go through the micro usb port?

Sorry if that is a really stupid question, but all these different cable, ports and adapters confuse me slightly....!
