Pro Logic II
Is Pro-Logic II worth bothering about ??.
I'm split between either a Denon 1602 Amp (with Pro-Logic II option as well as Dolby Digital and DTS) or the Yamaha AX-620 (with the usual Dolby Digital and DTS) ???. |

Without having had a demonstration of it is difficult to say. Prologic II is supposed to make existing Prologic material sound like 5.1 so it could give new life to existing tapes and probably tv broadcasts.
I don't think I would go for an amp specifically for it preferring to get the 5.1 and dts formats. I think my preference would be to get a 6.1 system ahead of Prologic II. I am more into watching dvds for their picture/sound quality rather than normal tv so the 6.1 sound formats are what would interest me more. |

I would say that Pro logic II aint worth buying an amp for , but I have to say that the Denon amps are highly regarded..... I 'm looking at the 3802 for my next one....
Best bet is to listen to both amps and choose which one you think sounds best. Laters Spooks |

I was NEVER considering an amp just for Pro Logic II. I expect to get one with at least DTS decoding, just that Pro Logic II would just be an addded bonus that's all.....

If you do end up buying an amp with Prologic II I would be interested to hear what you think about it.

I think I'm going to blow all my cash on a Marantz SR5200, this has DTS EX and 6.1 capability.
I've never had a Dolby Digital amp before so this looks like a good place to start...... |

You are in for a treat then.
Spooky Does Prologic II sound just like 5.1? Was I right in saying it would take existing media from tapes/tv and give it a pseudo 5.1 sound? Thanks wicket |

Not quite as good placement as 5.1 but very good. It really depends on the source material ie a films on Sky sound pretty good actually, but ITV movies were pretty bad...Dunno why. I havent lived with it as such , only demo'd at he store for some time
![]() BTW nice choice of amp Barada, never heard it myself but a few people have been buying that one. What speakers you gonna be running that bad boy through? DTS ES titles are rare but the ones I have heard are superb. Enjoy Laters Spooks |

Get dolby pro logicII if you are planning on owning a gamecube. Nintendo aren't including 5.1 but using pro logic II instead. I thought most new 5.1 amps decode pro logic II anyways?

I've just got the Onkyo DS898, Which has ProLogic II and DTS: Neo6 (The DTS equivilent) They do both sound very good and there are a load of games starting to use PLII, Just got Wipeout Fusion for my PS2 and it poped up witha PLII logo..
ProLogicII has 2 modes Music and Cinema, Cinema beign your regular PL replacement, PLII Music spreads the sound around the front 3 speakers a bit more.. If your really into movies and get R1 discs from the US (ala play.com it's deffinatly worth getting a DTS:ES (Matrix/Discrete) 6.1 capable amp, RushHour2 sounds SO good with the discrete rear centre channel
