Sky World price / changing package
We've had Sky World for many years and added HD a couple of years, but are now thinking of downgrading our package as we watch less and would like to save some money.
Looking at the website prices for new customers it would appear our current package costs £65.75 however we pay £61.75, is this a mistake or is this the same for other customers who were also on the old package system? I believe the movie package costs £8 (when you also have sports) so I was wondering if I removed this if I would actually save £8 per month or whether there would be a deficit therefore only saving me £4 per month? I'm a bit worried my current price is a mistake and if I ring them to downgrade they will notice and want to back charge me the £48 extra per year I should have been paying! ![]() Also, I guess if I downgrade and then want to upgrade back later then I would end up having to pay the £65.75 price instead? I might just bite the bullet and remove movies, sport and HD!

As long as you do not give up on the Basic Channels then giving up Movies would save £8 and HD would save £10.25 - just as you expect! |

What people pay now (for Entertainment Extra) does STILL depend on what Mixes they had 2 years ago - so there is no mistake!

Ah ok, so the price difference is to do with the Extra pack only? Presumably then any removal of Movie/Sport/HD would get me a discount of the usual £8/£21/£10.25 (down to a minimum of £22.50) whereas if I remove Extra I'll only get a £1 discount (so down to a minimum of £21.50 as £17.50 wouldn't be allowed)?
When they changed it to Entertainment or Entertainment extra, you were moved onto the relevant package depending what channels you had, but kept the same price (so if you had 2 packs at £17, and one of those packs was in Entertainment Extra, you were moved onto that, but at the same £17). Removing Entertainement Extra would revert you to the current costing of £21.50 for Entertainment, and if you then re-added it, it would be £26.50. |

Indeedm it goes back to when there were 6 packs, at £16 (i believe, can't remember the exact price) for the base pack, then £1 per pack on top.

I'd cancel to save £5 a month, but to have all the packs for sort of effectively only £1 a month it would be silly to cancel them, if I can still make use of them occasionally! |

I called and asked for sport, movie and HD packs to be removed, so I'm down to £22.50 now. If we change our minds in the next month (quite likely for the sport unfortunately), is it possible to just upgrade a pack online even if it's within only a few days of them turning the channels off? Obviously all the bill adjustments would change again to accommodate, but just wondering if there are any restrictions on this.

Certainly is. Sky will happily take more money off you at any stage, even if it is only a couple of days after downgrading. Funny that!
When you upgrade again though is there a minimum term then? or could you downgrade again after a month or two? Not saying we want to see-saw month to month (guessing Sky don't like that very much), but just that it might take us more than one try to commit to the downgrade |

Something else to consider...
When the Friends and Family codes do the rounds, you can always cancel your current subscription, and sign up again under your other half/housemate/whatever's name (in other words, as long as it's not yours). With something like that, you can get what you had before, but for half price (so, £32.88 a month instead of the usual £65.75). That's last a year. You couldn't do that now, though, as the codes aren't doing the rounds at the moment. I have every intention of doing exactly that when they next come around. |
