This isn't a Freesat recorder, people may be better placed to help at the Satellite Technical Forum or the Non-platform Forum.

If you get the Ross FTA kit (around £50.00 in B&Q) with the ROSS HD DVB-S2 1201 receiver it will record to a NTFS drive (I use one with a 1TB usb drive). Mine came in a portable suitcase kit from Aldi.

Recordings are standard 1080i-H264/AVC(mpeg4) transport stream from the HD channels and 576i mpeg2 from SD.

Both HD and SD can be edited on a PC. If you have a blu-ray player then the HD recordings can be burnt to DVD blanks in AVCHD format.

Hi Graham,
Are these capabilities on the Ross available "right out of the box" or does it need special firmware?

Trying to find one of these Ross kits but struggling to do so on a respectable retailer.

Any links or stores I can get a Ross box with satellite dish cheaply?
